Paula Stiles: Meetings with Gerlach

“Defund ObamaCare before it defunds you” Dr. Marty.

If you are tired of the lies and arrogance of these people, we need to stand up to them.  We are planning to have an “educational rally” for the Congressman’s constituents outside his office on Saturday, September 7th.  We need as many people possible to have signs informing his constituents that he is not what he says he is.  If we get enough people, I will be contacting the news press.  The lies and arrogance needs to stop and it needs to stop now.  They are not worried about our country, they are worried about the next election.

Let me know asap if you can attend.  I will be keeping a list and giving updates prior to the rally.  PASS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!!!

Thank you. . . Paula Stiles, Chesco Patriots

“Three Patriots went into Congressman Gerlach’s office two Friday’s ago and here is the assessment they took back from the meeting.

1.  Gerlach is scared to death to shut down the government.  It was pointed out that this would not be a tragedy, this would not be the first time the government was shut down, to the murmurs of we are not going to shut down the government.  He was so worried about SS, Medicare and Medicaid recipients.  It was pointed out to him that this would still happen, and he insisted that it wouldn’t.  This question was a response for him to sign onto defunding Obamacare.

2. He insisted that he is FOR getting rid of Obamacare by his votes to repeal it.  Actions speak louder than words; when push comes to shove, he does not have the conviction to absolutely defund this abomination.

3.  Jim Gerlach was directly asked the question about what the Congress would do to nullify the fact that Congress and the Federal Employees will not have to submit to this atrocity called Obamacare, while the little people get to pay for it.  He had no response.  In other words, for Thee but not for Me.  He does not care that we will be strapped to pay for him, his staff, his family, the IRS employees, etc.

4. Gerlach insisted that the House could NOT defund Obamacare without shutting down the government.  It was pointed out that this could be done, and his response was a

call to REVIEW our Civics Class.  I felt that this was a demeaning tactic by our Representative; the inference was that the group was ill informed.

5. AMNESTY was another topic discussed.  The HOUSE will be putting forth their OWN BILLS.  It was suggested that the House ignore the Senate Bill and do nothing.

Our BLEEDING HEART Representative wants to LEGALIZE ALL the children here through no fault of their own.  No mention of those who crossed the border illegally to get here

and get to remain.  His response is that we must do something…here we go again, we get to pay for it!!!!  I requested that we not allow them to remain, see the legal ruling

of Obama’s DREAM ACT, it is not lawful.  He WILL NOT deport 20 million people.  We don’t have the resources.  I pointed out that it would be more cost effective to return

them and the citizens would support this measure.  I also pointed out that Eisenhower deported illegals during his administration for the same reasons, high unemployment

and out own citizens out of work.  It was also mentioned that this only serves big business and will hurt our own people since they will not be required under OBAMACARE.

He wants to increase WORK VISAS thereby keeping the underclass intact.

6.  It was also pointed out that there are entire departments in the Government which could be eliminated, Dept of Ed, Energy, IRS, etc.  He agreed that this will never happen.

7.  A FLAT Tax would take care of the IRS.  His proposal is to create 2 tax levels.  Didn’t we see how much the Republicans have cut our TAXES!  I don’t know about you,

but I have not seen any tax cuts.

8.  It was stated that the Republicans have no guts in fighting for their constituents.  “I represent 700,000 people and need to look out for all of them”.  Really, did the

Democrats vote for you?  What do you stand for, what are your values and principles, what are the values and principles of the Republican Party.  My response from Gerlach

is that “I need to be a team player or get out of the committee”.  My goal is to get Conservatives elected, but the Party will never allow that.  Every Committeeperson who was at the Convention this year saw the “quality” of people put forward…payback political hacks.  Gerlach is the ultimate PARTY representative, progressive BIG government.

Overall this was a disappointing meeting from a Representative who does not espouse what the Republican Party is supposed to stand for.  He MUST GO!!!

9/10/2013: West Chester TEA Party: Exempt America Rally

“If you are interested in the rally below, we will try to get a bus load together please respond at

“On Tuesday, September 10th, Tea Party Patriots will partner with numerous other pro-liberty groups to participate in the Exempt America Rally on the West Lawn of the US Capitol in Washington, DC at 12pm. This rally is taking place to demand that Congress delay the implementation of Obamacare by refusing to stop spending money on the law.

“The Obama administration has already unilaterally delayed the implementation of the law for Big Business. The IRS union – who is charged with enforcing the law – doesn’t want it, the Teamsters say it will destroy the 40 hour work week, and now Members of Congress and their Staffs have received special protection from the law.

“If this law isn’t good enough for Big Business, Big Labor, or Big Government, then it isn’t good enough for the American people.

“We must take this opportunity to demonstrate to Washington that American people should be Exempt from Obamacare.

“The looming budget fight may be our last chance to stop Obamacare before the January 1st deadline. We will need as large a turnout in Washington as possible. We must show Congress, on their first day back from their summer recess, that they cannot run to DC to hide from the American voters.

“There are many members of Congress that are too afraid to take an actual stand against the oncoming “Train Wreck”. We need to show them that we, the American people, will not let this go without a fight. . . “

Mike Folmer: Common Core Hearings

Keystone Exams, Common Core to be topics of Education Committee Hearings
“I recently announced plans for two Education Committee public hearings.

“The first hearing, on the topic of PA Keystone Exams, will take place Monday, August 26, at Valley Forge Middle School, 105 West Walker Road, in Wayne, PA. A complete hearing agenda will be posted on Education Committee’s website closer to the date.

“On Thursday, August 29, at 9:30 a.m., in Hearing Room One of the Capitol’s North Office Building, the Committee will hold a public hearing on Common Core as it relates to the Pennsylvania Core Standards. (The State Board of Education recently released proposed revisions to the Chapter 4 regulations that, among other things, will change the name from Pennsylvania Common Core Standards to Pennsylvania Core Standards.)

“This is the second hearing the Committee has held on Common Core. This hearing will focus on getting answers to Common Core questions from the state Department of Education and the Pennsylvania State Board of Education.

“Given the interest in Common Core, I invite all interested parties to submit questions on the issue through the Education Committee’s website. I, along with other Committee members, will then ask the questions to Department officials at the hearing. The deadline to submit questions is Wednesday, August 21.

“Both hearings will be available to watch live on my website.”

Victor Davis Hanson, NRO: “America the Trivial

“Two quite different 21st-century Americas are emerging. The nation is not so much divided by “wars” between the rich and poor, men and women, or white and non-white. Instead, there is the world of reality versus that of triviality.

“In the vast plains of the Dakotas and the American West, thousands of men and women of all classes and colors are fracking oil and gas to create new energy for millions of homeowners and commuters — while giving America a second chance at strategic energy independence.

“Yet the beneficiaries mostly ignore these elemental efforts. They instead prefer to fixate on the alleged sexual creepiness of big-city political mediocrities like Bob Filner and Anthony Weiner.

“As we sleep, 7,000 miles away there are still thousands of American soldiers of all races, ages, classes, and genders in godforsaken conditions fighting the Taliban to allow millions in Afghanistan the chance for an alternative to medieval theocracy and to deter terrorists.

“Meanwhile, back home, the nation is focused not on such existential struggles but is transfixed by racial melodramas. . .”

EGYPT . . .

Kirsten Powers, Daily Beast: “The Muslim Brotherhood’s War on Coptic Christians”

“The news coming out of Egypt is staggering. USA Today reports that “forty churches have been looted and torched, while 23 others have been attacked and heavily damaged” in one week. According to the Coptic Orthodox and Catholic churches in Egypt, 160 Christian-owned buildings have also been attacked.

“In one town, Islamists paraded three nuns on the streets like prisoners of war after burning their Franciscan school. The attackers tore a cross off the gate of the school and replaced it with an Islamist flag. The New York Times described hundreds of Islamists in one attack, ‘lashing out so ferociously that marble altars were left in broken heaps on the floor.’ . . .”

Robert Spencer, PJM: “What Is the Difference Between ‘Extremist’ and ‘Moderate’ Muslim Brothers?

“. . . Ahmed Bedier, former chief of the Tampa chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), is widely regarded as a “moderate” Muslim leader – in this guise, he even appeared on Glenn Beck’s CNN show in March 2007 to speak out against “extremism.” On the show, he declared: “We condemn any nation, country or group that uses Islam or misuses and misinterprets Islam in violent ways.” Later, when he announced his departure from CAIR, he explained his future plans in terms to warm any multiculturalist’s heart: “I’m going to expand on and build upon my work as a civil rights and human rights leader into broader areas of peace building, interfaith dialogue and reconciliation.”

“As is so often the case, things are not always as they seem. . .”

Jerome Corsi, WND: “Obama’s brother linked to Muslim Brotherhood”

“Report says Malik directs radical Islamic movement’s investments

“NEW YORK – President Obama’s half-brother in Kenya could cause the White House more headaches over new evidence linking him to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and establishing that controversial IRS supervisor Lois Lerner signed his tax-exempt approval letter.

“Malik Obama’s oversight of the Muslim Brotherhood’s international investments is one reason for the Obama administration’s support of the Muslim Brotherhood, according to an Egyptian report citing the vice president of the Supreme Constitutional Court of Egypt, Tehani al-Gebali

“In a news report on Egyptian television of a Gebali speech, translated by researcher Walid Shoebat, a former Palestinian Liberation Organization operative, Gebali said she would like “to inform the American people that their president’s brother Obama is one of the architects of the major investments of the Muslim Brotherhood. . .”

WSJ: (Hillary) “Notable & QuotableNotable & Quotable”

“Camille Paglia on why she thinks Hillary Clinton has disqualified herself for the presidency.

“Camille Paglia, from an interview with, posted Aug. 21:

“Q: Any hopes, fears or predictions for the presidential elections in 2016?

“A: As a registered Democrat, I am praying for a credible presidential candidate to emerge from the younger tier of politicians in their late 40s. A governor with executive experience would be ideal. It’s time to put my baby-boom generation out to pasture! We’ve had our day and managed to muck up a hell of a lot.

“It remains baffling how anyone would think that Hillary Clinton (born the same year as me) is our party’s best chance. She has more sooty baggage than a 90-car freight train. “And what exactly has she ever accomplished—beyond bullishly covering for her philandering husband? She’s certainly busy, busy and ever on the move—with the tunnel-vision workaholism of someone trying to blot out uncomfortable private thoughts.

“I for one think it was a very big deal that our ambassador was murdered in Benghazi. In saying ‘I take responsibility’ for it as secretary of state, Hillary should have resigned immediately. The weak response by the Obama administration to that tragedy has given a huge opening to Republicans in the next presidential election. The impression has been amply given that Benghazi was treated as a public relations matter to massage rather than as the major and outrageous attack on the U.S. that it was. . .”

J. Christian Adams, PJM: “2014 Military Voting Rights Hang in the Balance — Now

“PJ Media has led the way covering military voting issues over the last two federal election cycles. Usually, America pays attention to the disenfranchisement of military voters the last few months before an election, but Americans and members of Congress should pay attention right now. Decisions now being made at the Pentagon by top brass, including Undersecretary Jennifer Wright, will determine whether military voters in 2014 get to vote and to participate. The Pentagon is preparing to hire a new director of the office responsible for helping military voters.

“The Pentagon office in charge of military voting (FVAP) has been an embarrassment over the last two election cycles. . .”

Rushbo: “The Tea Party Has Congress Too Scared to Hold Town Halls”

“This story says, “Reports of the Tea Party’s demise are greatly exaggerated, or so its leadership would have us believe. Sure, the four-year-old movement is maturing and all those attention-grabbing headlines from 2009 are much harder to come by in 2013.” What this story’s about, is Brent Bozell and the Media Research Center are trying to get Republicans to have town hall meetings.

“They’re not having them. The Tea Party people are being shut out. There aren’t any town hall meetings. We’re at August 22nd, and there haven’t been any to speak of. There’ve been a few, and when they’ve happened, Republicans have shown up and given members of Congress what-for. But there haven’t been nearly as many.”

Ohio Gov. John Kasich (Interview with Bill Bennett, 8/22/2013)

Kasich is in a reelection fight and is losing points to Democrat Ed Fitzgerald. Kasich has not addressed pension issues in Ohio and avers that Ohio has benefited from “labor peace” . . . Would Kasich change his position if free of Ohio politics? Perhaps the same “peace” now causes Speaker Boehner to copy Hamlet. Speaker Boehner may belong to all of us but his leash is still held by Ohio labor . . . incidentally, the Speaker does NOT have to be an elected representative. Donald Trump? The interview is at buthas all the commercials . . .

–          Kasich’s “team” has been with him for 20 years. He has a Republican House and Senate.

–          His ratings began at 30% but climbed to the middle 50s.

–          Ohio’s debt changed – through tax cuts and program changes – from a debt of $8B to assets of $1.5B (Taxes were cut $2.6B)

–          Ohio will not have health care exchanges.

–          Ohio has billions due from Washington for Medicare funds. (Kasich claims to have more accurate billing procedures and financial gains from allowing Medicare recipients to stay at home rather than in an institution.

–          School vouchers have grown, school reforms have developed. Social promotions are a rarer practice.

–          He anticipates $3B for infrastructure improvements – without raising taxes.

–          He works openly with guidance from his Christian faith.

–          Kasich’s motto – Pretend you are at bat. “Swing for the fences.”

Presidential contender?

Mona Charen, NRO: “Reagan, Obama, and the Butler

“Buried in a New York Times story about the economy was this arresting statistic: Median family income for black Americans has declined a whopping 10.9 percent during the Obama administration. It has declined for other groups as well — 3.6 percent for non-Hispanic whites and 4.5 percent for Hispanics — but the figure for blacks is huge. This decline does not include losses suffered during the financial crisis and the recession that followed, but instead measures declines since June 2009, when the recession officially ended.

“That’s not the only bad news for African Americans. The poverty rate for blacks was 25.8 percent in 2011. The black labor-force-participation rate, which rose throughout the 1980s and 1990s, has declined for the past decade and quite sharply under Obama to 61.4 percent. The black unemployment rate, according to Pew Research, stands at 13.4 percent. Among black, male high-school dropouts, PBS’s Paul Solman reports, the unemployment rate is a staggering 95 percent.

““Does any of this affect the standing of the nation’s first black president with black Americans? Not a whit, apparently. . .

Congressman Ron DeSantis (R-FL) “28th Amendment: Holding Congress Accountable”

“One of the most frequent complaints that I have heard about Congress is that its members live under a different set of rules from the rest of the public. The idea that members of Congress should be able to create special exemptions from themselves is not only patently unfair, it is also contrary to the spirit of constitutionalism articulated by the Founding Fathers and reflected in the Constitution. As James Madison wrote in The Federalist No. 57, once it becomes acceptable “to tolerate a law not obligatory on the legislature, as well as on the people, the people will be prepared to tolerate anything but liberty.”
“That is why Congressman Matt Salmon and I have introduced what we hope will be the 28th amendment to the Constitution: Congress shall make no law respecting the citizens of the United States that does not also apply to the senators and representatives. Together we wrote an editorial for the Washington Times that lays out the case for why we need this important amendment – you can read the editorial by clicking here.

“On the very day that Congressman Salmon and I introduced this constitutional amendment that serves to prohibit Congress from exempting themselves from the laws that they pass, we received word that the Obama Administration has created an administrative rule that will relieve members of Congress and their staffs from the higher health care costs that the rest of America will bear under the 2010 health care law. . .”

Ryan Mauro, Clarion Project: “Million Muslim March on 9/11 Linked to Islamist Radicals”

“In multiple media appearances, the organizers of the Million American March Against Fear (formerly the Million Muslim March), which will be held on September 11, claim that the march is being held to battle fear, discrimination and human rights violations. They are being wordsmiths. This is an Islamist-linked, conspiracy-promoting political rally that uses 9/11 to push an anti-Western narrative.

“The march is being organized by American Muslim Political Action Committee (AMPAC), an organization linked to Islamist radicals and 9/11 “Truthers.”  The head organizers have personal histories of promoting an Islamist agenda for America, anti-Semitism and 9/11 conspiracy theories. In fact, according to one of the organizers, the name of the march was changed to accommodate non-Muslim 9/11 conspiracy theory groups. . .”

Bob Unruh, WND: “Bikers to counter Muslim march”

Thx Barb!

“Muslims who have begun promoting a 9/11 march in Washington that originally was to protest “anti-Islamic bigotry in the U.S.” and then turned into a “March Against Fear” may have some competition.

‘Loud competition. Very loud. And lots of it.

“In what was a virtual impossibility before the Internet, a Facebook page has been created in which many individuals are coordinating what they have dubbed “2 Mnillion Bikers to DC.”

At the Mr. Conservative blog, the author said: “The best way to counter bad speech is to oppose it with good speech. Sometimes ‘speech’ can be expressed simply by the number of people who are willing to show up to support a principle. That’s the view that hundreds of bikers (so far) across American have as they prepare to join a ’2 Million Biker Ride to DC’ to counter the planned Sept. 11 ‘Million Muslim March.’”

“On the Facebook page, the community purpose is described as: “To honor those who were killed on 911 and our armed forces who fought those who precipitated this attack!”

“More than 16,000 “likes” had been generated in just a short time. . .”

Stephen Dinan, Washington Times: “Holder sues Texas to stop voter ID law, congressional maps”

Thx Ted!

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. said Thursday he has officially sued Texas seeking to stop the state from asking voters to show ID at the polls, accusing the Texas legislature of intentionally trying to discriminate against minorities.

The lawsuit was a response to a June Supreme Court ruling on the civil rights-era Voting Rights Act that limited the federal government’s ability to demand prior approval of changes to voting laws.

“‘We will not allow the Supreme Court’s recent decision to be interpreted as open season for states to pursue measures that suppress voting rights,’ Mr. Holder said in a statement announcing the move.

“Separately, Mr. Holder announced the federal government is joining another case seeking to overturn the lines the state drew for U.S. Congress and state House                         districts, saying those, too, were drawn in order to deny minorities their voting rights.

Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Republican, said the move by Mr. Holder was “trying to turn our state blue” through pushing the lawsuit. . .”

James Taranto, WSJ: “An ‘Inconvenient’ Untruth “

Thx Ted!

“Al Gore iswn’t even honest about his own movie.

“In case you’ve forgotten, “Al Gore was vice president of the United States from 1993-2001.” The Washington Post’s Ezra Klein delivers that news in setting up an interview with Gore, who is known these days mostly as an alarmist advocate of global warmism.”

“. . . In a New York Times op-ed today, physicist Adam Frank bemoans what he sees, not implausibly, as a decline in public respect for science. One of his observations is worthy of Fox Butterfield: “In 1989, when ‘climate change’ had just entered the public lexicon, 63 percent of Americans understood it was a problem. Almost 25 years later, that proportion is actually a bit lower, at 58 percent.”

“After a quarter-century of wildly alarmist predictions that have failed to pan out–often with specific dates now in the past–we’d say the five-point decline Frank cites is dismayingly low. And while Al Gore isn’t a scientist, the Climategate scandal showed that some scientists are no more scrupulous than he is.

“‘What has been lost,’ Frank writes, ‘is an understanding that science’s open-ended, evidence-based processes–rather than just its results–are essential to meeting [mankind’s] challenges.’ Just so. It has been lost in no small part because scientists and others claiming the authority of science have given their political objectives priority over the patient empiricism of the scientific method–and even, as in Gore’s case, over basic veracity.”

streiff, Red State: “If Obama Had A Son He Would Not Look Like Christopher Lane”

“Last Friday a young Australian was gunned down in Duncan, Oklahoma.

The facts are terrifyingly banal. Lane, who was in the United States on a baseball scholarship to East Central University in Ada, OK, was visiting his girlfriend in Duncan, OK, and decided to go for a jog. At some point he passed a house containing three young men: James Edwards, 15, Chancey “Baby Drake” Luna, 16, and Michael Jones, 17. They were bored – bored is what they told police — and decided to kill him. With Jones at the wheel they followed Lane in a car and, police charge, Edwards shot him in the back with a .22-caliber revolver. Edwards and Luna have been charged with murder, Jones as an accessory.

“The critical part of this story involves the race of the killers. At least two of the killers, Edwards and Luna, are described as black.

“This event has an interesting parallel to the Trayvon Martin case. The primary killer in this case as identified by police, James Edwards, has an internet presence eerily similar to that of Martin. He created a ganster-wannabe image, brandished weapons, etc. And like Martin, all three are ‘children.’ . . .”

Rush Limbaugh: “Drive-Bys Try to Ignore Australian Student Murdered By “Bored Teens” Obsessed with Violent Rap Lyrics”

“. . . We all do get bored.  None of us are bored during these three hours.  But you’re on your own when the program ends — and when you get bored, do you ever think, “You know what? Let’s go shoot somebody!” Well, that’s what these three guys did in Oklahoma.  They got bored and said, ‘Let’s go shoot a white guy!’ Folks, I gotta tell you, there’s something else about this.  This is Trayvon Martin in reverse, only worse.

This was nowhere near self-defense.  I mean, this is just cold-blooded, first-degree recreational, for the fun of it, because they were bored, murder.  And you have, what is it? Two black guys and a white guy in the group.  No matter where you look in the media, it’s not a racial event.  Nothing about is racist. This is the epitome of media irresponsibility.  It’s a classic illustration of just what role the mainstream media is playing in the destruction of American culture and society. . . “

WSJ: “For ‘the Fun of It’

“The debate we aren’t having about a murder in Oklahoma.

“Three teenagers were charged Tuesday in the killing of a white college student in Duncan, Oklahoma, and part of the story is what didn’t happen. There was no saturation cable TV coverage, no press conference featuring Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson, and no statement from the Oval Office. The death of Christopher Lane, while as troubling as that of Trayvon Martin, will not become a national touchstone of racial and cultural debate or reflection.

“But maybe it should. . .”

Abby Ohlheiser, Atlantic Wire: Homeland Security Employee Prepares for Race War

THX Ted!

“A Department of Homeland Security employee who works on, among other things, the procurement of guns and ammunition for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, spends his nights and weekends preparing for a coming race war and advocating for anti-gay causes, according to a new report from the Southern Poverty Law Center. Meet Ayo Kimathi, a.k.a. ‘the Irritated Genie,’ who told his bosses at the DHS that his anti-white, anti-gay site, ‘War is on the Horizon,’ was just an entertainment site that sells concert and lecture videos.

“You see, DHS employees, even those with office jobs like Kimathi’s, have to get outside activities approved by their supervisors, according to the SPLC. Kimathi’s former supervisor told the watchdog group, which tracks hate speech and groups in the U.S., that despite her former employee’s banal description of his extracurricular activities, the actual content of the site left her ‘stunned.’ She continued: ‘To see the hate, to know that he is a federal employee, it bothered me.’ She added that had Kimathi’s site been accurately described to the agency, there’s no way the DHS would have signed off on it . . .”

Katie Pavlich, Town Hall: “AFL-CIO Nevada Passes Resolution to Openly Criticize Obama Administration Over Obamacare”

“A month ago leaders from three major labor unions, Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa, UFCW President Joseph Hansen and UNITE-HERE President D. Taylor, wrote a scathing letter to the Obama administration about how Obamacare will destroy the 40 hour work week for hardworking Americans. The letter called for the administration to “fix” what was broken and had a strong tone of regret when it came to supporting President Obama and the re-election of pro-Obamacare Democrats.

‘Time is running out: Congress wrote this law; we voted for you. We have a problem; you need to fix it. The unintended consequences of the ACA are severe. Perverse incentives are already creating nightmare scenarios.’

“Now, the AFL-CIO in Nevada has passed a resolution to openly criticize the Obama administration over Obamacare, again stressing the situation needs to be fixed by the very people who created it. The resolution is a result of union concerns being ignored. . .”

It is thus, the Times reports, “joining an increasing number of companies that are restricting or eliminating spousal health benefits.”

“This fact, and the trend it represents, puts the Times in something of a bind. The paper has been one of the most conspicuous boosters for everything Obama, with the result that it has, like the monkeys in the story, adopted a policy of “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” when it comes to the president’s many failed policies and initiatives. “Benghazi? It happened because of an anti-Muslim internet video. Trayvon Martin? Murdered by a ‘white Hispanic’ in a fit of racial hatred. The use of the IRS as a political weapon to intimidate and punish conservatives?  Has that even been reported on in the Times?  ObamaCare? What, do you want to deny health care to the poor?

“(Pardon us while we disable the non sequitur buzzer . . .)

“So, let’s just say the the [sic] Times likes ObamaCare. So how do they deal with the many defections, left and right, from its economy- and health-care destroying provisions? Bring on the monkeys! . . .”

Or postponing a decision until you don’t have to make one.

“At some point, rank-and-file conservative activists will have to confront an inconvenient reality.  The Republicans in Washington are not just dumb or spineless – they are the problem.  They don’t share our values and seek to undermine our beliefs.  The only way that will change is if we return the favor and thwart their political careers.

“Earlier this evening, Speaker John Boehner announced his grand plans for fighting Obamacare in the budget.  He will pass a short-term continuing resolution (CR) until some time in December, grouping the new budget deadline with the debt ceiling date, and create another grand end-of-year fiscal cliff.  He will fund Obamacare in the short term CR, but by George, he will fight like hell in the debt ceiling battle!  For now, they will make the short term CR about locking in the sequester cuts. . .”

Amy Worden, Philly.Com: “Pa. bill would tax 2 cents on each new plastic bag”

Research found a year ago that reusing grocery bags provides for nests of germs . . . I’ll pay the two cents and live a bit longer . . . of course, planting a new tax seeds a forest of similar taxes.
“HARRISBURG – An area lawmaker wants Pennsylvania shoppers to BYOB (bring your own bag) or pay a fee.

“Sen. Daylin Leach (D., Montgomery) has introduced a bill aimed at reducing the volume of plastic bags in the trash by imposing a two-cent fee on each new bag used by shoppers.

“One penny of the fee would go to state recycling programs, and the other would go to the retailer to help with its recycling.

“Leach said his bill – like those already enacted in Seattle, Los Angeles, and Washington – would encourage customers to shop with reusable bags while reducing landfill waste. . .”
