America has made her last nighttime launching of Challenger and will depend on Russian rockets in the future.

Nashville Notes

Sarah is wonderful but looks thinner and tired. Part of her crusade is collecting big fees and giving every nickel to aspiring conservative candidates.

Andrew Breitbart had us all up and both cheering him and jeering the dozen cameras in the back of the room and the networks they represent.

Judge Roy Moore talks in Shakespearean cadence and with the confidence of Blair or Thatcher.

And Leland Baker proved that 1) we are NOW bankrupt but 2) if we eliminated $17 trillion in unconstitutional spending, we would be solvent in 35 years.

Joe Farah still wants BO’s birth certificate. Farah also loathes czars and violations of our constitution. There is more than suggestive evidence that BO’s goals include the systematic destruction of America.

Rick Scarborough encouraged white ministers to testify for responsibility, conservatism, and God.

General themes: Strongly resonant…saving the country for our kids. Also, no sovereigns or great leaders for TEA; we must remain a bottom-up organization; our initials stand for “Taxed Enough Already” but our neglect of core “values” (sic!) led to our money problems. Christians must become rowdier if we are to repel secularism and competing religions.

Internet (from observation and from guru Mark Skoda: lots of new sites, “webinar” is the coming thing, “cloud” systems let us do it all with a cell phone instead of a computer, you can hire robocalls for pennies instead of tens of thousands, and nearly all you want to do can be done on GoDaddy for about $50 per month.

No sign of Tim or Dick or their minions in our crowd of 1200 manic 45-year-olds, all but three of whom happened to be white and of the three blacks, two were campaigning.

I drove the 800 miles back to home, learning that West Virginia doesn’t plow her roads and that snow lands in my drive whether or not I’m home to watch. I approached my drive, saw the unmarked white, revved my engine with “This one’s for Sarah!” and buried my MR2….

Steyn: Climate & “Journalistic Failure”

“The poodles are headed for the endangered species list. And deservedly so.”

Health Care: May Die on the Hill

“No, maybe he can’t. President Barack Obama, who insisted he would succeed where other presidents had failed to fix the nation’s health care system, now concedes the effort may die in Congress.

Steyn: “Unsustainable”

“Throughout his life, the commander-in-chief has had little contact with the military, and less interest. And, when you give as many speeches as this guy does, there’s no time to rehearse or read through: You just gotta fire up the prompter and wing it. But it’s revealing that nobody around him in the so-called smartest administration of all time thought to spell it out phonetically for him when the speech got typed up and loaded into the machine. Which suggests that either his minders don’t know that he doesn’t know that kinda stuff, or they don’t know it either. To put it in Rumsfeldian terms, they don’t know what they don’t know.
“Which is embarrassingly true.”

Bob Guzzardi: Gwenne Alexander dropped her run for Lieutenant Governor.

So much for his earlier elation. Meanwhile, there is a “debate” tomorrow night that may be ripe for political snipers and sniping.

So much of politics depends on the arts of strategic gossip. It’s fun. It takes imagination and spite. And it sometimes works not to improve our government but to influence an election’s outcomes.

In contrast, Ohio conservative political consultant, Peter Wolf recommends:

-          Hold your debates before absentee ballots go out.

-          Collect questions on index cards.

-          Randomly choose what is to be asked and return the chosen cards to the authors.

-          Give 3 minutes for an answer. Allow a follow-up question or  the option to repeat the question to a different candidate.

-          Allow 5 minutes to each candidate for an introduction and 3 minutes for a closing statement.

-          Tabulate voter ratings by all who are present and give them to the press.
