“The United States is only one superpower. Today they lead the world. Nobody has doubts about it. Militarily.  They also lead economically but they’re getting weak. But they don’t lead morally and politically anymore.  The world has no leadership.  The United States was always the last resort and hope for all other nations.  There was the hope, whenever something was going wrong, one could count on the United States. Today, we lost that hope. Lech Walesa

CATO: “TEA Partiers Shouldn’t Date the GOP

Thanks, Amy Reid.

“From the Detroit News, Feb 4th: In recent months, the most influential political party in the country may not be the Republican Party or the Democratic Party, but the Tea Party. This murky, largely leaderless grassroots movement has been the driving force behind the derailment of President Barack “Obama’s dearest agenda items, notably health care reform and climate change legislation.

What are the goals of this movement? In part, that is the wrong question. The Tea Party effort rejects the notion that a politician or a pundit should define their movement. Rather, citizens themselves will tell us what the movement means.

“As their name suggests, these citizens want to revive the ideas at the heart of the American Revolution: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. One chapter in Texas adopted these principles: limited government; fiscal responsibility; personal responsibility and the rule of law.”

Krauthammer: BHO’s Ideology & the “Great Peasant Revolt of 2010”

“’I am not an ideologue,’ protested President Obama at a gathering with Republican House members last week. Perhaps, but he does have a tenacious commitment to a set of political convictions.

“Compare his 2010 State of the Union to his first address to Congress a year earlier. The consistency is remarkable.”

Kimberley Strassel: Pfizer’s Bad Political Bet

“Pfizer was long a company that zealously guarded against government interference. Prior CEOs had seen how European governments had ruined its industry and recognized the threat. When the board made Mr. Kindler CEO in 2006—picking a relative newbie over insiders—it was a vote for shakeup. Mr. Kindler changed a lot more than the business.

“Already known as a Democrat and political junkie, Mr. Kindler was primed for the Obama ascendancy. Like many big CEOs, he started playing footsie with groups that had long despised business but would now have the president’s ear.”

Google & National Security Agency Form Partnership

Safety vs. freedom?

“The world’s largest Internet s”earch company and the world’s most powerful electronic surveillance organization are teaming up in the name of cybersecurity.

“Under an agreement that is still being finalized, the National Security Agency would help Google analyze a major corporate espionage attack that the firm said originated in China and targeted its computer networks, according to cybersecurity experts familiar with the matter. The objective is to better defend Google — and its users — from future attack.”
