All I can tell you is, there was no doubt in my mind a month ago unemployment would be under 8%. There was no doubt in my mind 5 minutes before the number that it would be under 8% — take it anyway you want!”  Rick Santelli

Philip Elliott, AP: Ryan Prepares

“…Paul Ryan has been hauling two thick briefing books around the country and intently studying up on Vice President Joe Biden, who has been sparring over public policy since the Wisconsin congressman was learning how to talk.

“Ryan, the 42-year-old Republican vice presidential nominee, has suggested his youth will be an asset in connecting with voters at the sole vice presidential debate Thursday in Kentucky against the 69-year-old former senator. But risks abound for the GOP rising star, who hasn’t participated in a campaign debate since his first run for office 14 years ago.

“The main goal for Ryan’s inner-circle: get him comfortable answering questions in broad terms that connect with voters and avoid the wonky, in-the-weeds answers more appropriate for a budget hearing than a living room…”

Billy Hallowell, The Blaze: “Five Things to Watch for”

Biden unbound, Ryan’s debut, Experience vs. youth; Numbers, the moderator…

“…For Ryan, first impressions will mean the world — and for Biden, taking Romney and Ryan down a notch after the first presidential debate results favored the Republican candidate is a must. Considering these elements, here are five things to watch for when Biden and Ryan meet in the vice presidential debate Thursday night…”

Regina Medina, Samantha Gave Up on Philly Schools

“SAMANTHA PAWLUCY, the Port Richmond teen embroiled in a high school controversy over her T-shirt choice, will no longer attend Charles Carroll High School, her attorney and her father confirmed Wednesday.

“‘She’s totally uncomfortable. She doesn’t want to go back there,’ said Richard Pawlucy, the student’s father. He and his wife, Kristine, also pulled their two other daughters from the school.

“Samantha wore a pink Romney/Ryan T-shirt to Carroll High on ‘Dress Down Day’ nearly two weeks ago. Her geometry teacher, Lynette Gaymon, asked her to leave the class and wondered why she was wearing a Republican top at a ‘Democratic’ school, according to the student.

“The Pawlucys want to enroll the girls at ‘anything that’s not associated with the School District of Philadelphia,’ Richard Pawlucy said.

“Kristine Pawlucy told Larry Mendte on his WWIQ-FM (106.9) show that she felt “betrayed” by, among others, district superintendent William R. Hite and Mayor Nutter.

“Richard Pawlucy said his ideal destination for his kids is a charter school…”

Matthew Boyle, Daily Caller: “New O’Keefe video – Obama campaign staffer caught helping activist vote twice”

“Videographer James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas caught an official for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign helping who she thought was an Obama supporter set herself up to vote more than once in November.

“Stephanie Caballero is the regional field director for Obama’s Organizing For America in Houston, Texas. Federal Election Commission documents show, according to Project Veritas, that Caballero is a “salaried employee of the DNC [Democratic National Committee].”

“Caballero is caught on camera helping the young woman try to vote in Florida and Texas in the upcoming election…”

Ryan Preston, PJM: Second O’Keefe Video

James O’Keefe’s second DNC voter fraud video is out, and here it is:

“Registering to vote in more than one state is a criminal offense. Such a crime recently knocked a Maryland Democrat out of her race for the US House of Representatives.

O’Keefe closes the second video as he closed the first: With a taunt to journalists to declare that the voter fraud he is capturing in video can be chalked up to isolated incidents. More to come, I’m sure.

Eric Boehm, PA Independent: Gary Johnson on the Ballot

“HARRISBURG — A state judge Wednesday ruled that Libertarian Party presidential candidate Gary Johnson will remain on the Pennsylvania ballot for November’s general election.

“Commonwealth Court Judge James Gardner Colins determined that Johnson had collected 20,730 valid signatures, just above the threshold of 20,601 signature required by state law for third parties to get on the ballot.

“Along with Johnson, the Libertarians will their candidates on the ballot for U.S. Senate, state auditor general, state attorney general and state treasurer…”

Bob Guzzardi: “Neither Steve Santarsiero nor Bucks County Courier Have Credibility…”

“In 2010, there were three bills relating to Capital Budget expenditures directly Acts 47 of 2010, Act 48 of 2010 and Act 82 of 2010 authorizing almost $15,000,000,000 new indebtedness for The Forgotten Taxpayers of Pennsylvania. see attached and all of which Steve Santarsierso voted for.

“2010 was the last year of Rendell Administration. In 2011, the first year of the Corbett Administration, the additional borrowing was $1.6 billion breathtakingly lower and, likewise, the recent vote on SB 1480 was $1.675 for 2012. Of course, the year is not over!

“If Steve Santarsiero is saying that Jerry Sandusky’s Second Mile Learning Center capital expenditure was authorized in 2010, then Steve Santarsiero , also, voted for it. In fact, I am right that the Sandusky expenditure was contained in Act 130 of 2011 Project list line 174 . However, Santarsiero has now committed himself to 2010 so….Steve Santarsiero is still responsible whether Sandusky’s $3,000,000 was in 2010 Capital Budget (see attached for votes on three 2010 Capital Budget Bills) or 2011 Capital Budget Vote.

“Please note that the Corbett Project List references “re-approved or re-released” indicating that the listed capital projects had not been funded and that is whay Act 130 of 2011 was necessary. Note Line 94 2011 Project List Lower Makefield Township Athletic Complex $2,000,000 6/1/2011. This WAM, equivalent to Federal Earmark, is, likely, what ‘bought’ Steve Santarsiero’s vote. It is, also, likely, that the capital expenditure was built with union workers and, by law, at prevailing wage. Steve Santarsierso pretended to care about the kids who might use Lower Makefield Township Athletic Complex but, in fact, like Jerry Sandusky himself, Steve Santarsiero has other simultaneous objectives, in Steve Santarsiero’s case, financing his union financiers – somebody has to pay community organizers, the taxpayers have been elected by Steve Santarsiero to do that. You know…Jerry Sandusky, probably, really does care about kids, too.

“I think the Bucks County Courier needs to print a clear retraction and apologize to CAP and, probably to me.”

Victor Davis Hanson, NRO: “The Game Changes”

Obama’s debate performance was not out of character — and his supporters are worried.

“Usually after a presidential debate, both sides spin the results. But after the first face-off between President Obama and challenger Mitt Romney, Obama’s exasperated handlers made no such effort. How could they when most opinion polls revealed that two-thirds of viewers thought Obama lost?

Within minutes of the parting handshake, the liberal base went ballistic. Bill Maher, Chris Matthews, and Michael Moore all but accused Obama of embarrassing the progressive cause. The post-debate spin focused not on whether the president had been creamed by challenger Mitt Romney, but rather on how that had been possible…”

Daniel Henninger, WSJ: “Obama and the L-Word”

“’Liar’ is potent and ugly—with a sleazy political pedigree.

“…Other than the fact that calling opponents liars is so natural to their politics, one wonders why the Obama people think this will have deep political resonance. The idea that they can make voters who live outside the political steam baths believe that a man running for the presidency would stand in front of 67 million people and literally “lie” about a proposal to change the federal tax code is ludicrous.

“Every other time he talks, Barack Obama says ‘millionaires’ should pay more taxes, when all his proposed tax increases clearly start at individual incomes of $200,000. That isn’t a ‘lie.’ It’s a president taking three steps to make a layup…”

Walter Williams, OC Register: Wealthy People Flee California

“California was once the land of opportunity, but it is going down the tubes. Several California cities have declared bankruptcy, such as Vallejo, Stockton, Mammoth Lakes and San Bernardino. Others are on the precipice, and that includes Los Angeles, California’s largest city. California’s 2012 budget deficit is expected to top $28 billion, and its state debt is $618 billion. That’s more than twice the size of New York’s state debt, which itself is the second-highest in the nation.

“Democrats control California’s Legislature, and its governor, Jerry Brown, is a Democrat. California is home to some of America’s richest people and companies. It would then appear that the liberals’ solution to deficit and debt would be easy. They need only to raise taxes on California’s rich to balance the budget and pay down the debt – or, as President Barack Obama would say, make the rich pay their fair share.

“The downside to such a tax strategy is the fact that people are already leaving California in great numbers…”

Jack Welch, WSJ: “…Strange Jobs Report”

Thanks Ted,

“Imagine a country where challenging the ruling authorities—questioning, say, a piece of data released by central headquarters—would result in mobs of administration sympathizers claiming you should feel “embarrassed” and labeling you a fool, or worse.

Soviet Russia perhaps? Communist China? Nope, that would be the United States right now, when a person (like me, for instance) suggests that a certain government datum (like the September unemployment rate of 7.8%) doesn’t make sense.

“Unfortunately for those who would like me to pipe down, the 7.8% unemployment figure released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) last week is downright implausible. “And that’s why I made a stink about it.

“Before I explain why the number is questionable, though, a few words about where I’m coming from. Contrary to some of the sound-and-fury last week, I do not work for the Mitt Romney campaign…”

Peter Ferrara,  American Spectator: “Time to investigate…”

“Who needs the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), when you have Rush Limbaugh? Limbaugh predicted almost a year ago that the unemployment rate reported last Friday would fall below 8% for the first time since Obama entered office. Limbaugh by his own admission is no economist. So how did he know? Maybe because we are in the realm of politics now, rather than economics.

“How Stupid Do They Think We Are? The BLS reported last Friday that the economy in September created all of 114,000 net new jobs, just 104,000 in the private sector. To give you some context for how great that is, the working age population increased by 206,000 in September. With a labor force participation rate normal for the fourth year of a recovery (where we are right now), just keeping pace with that population growth would require 138,000 new jobs, before we can even start to reduce the unemployment rate.

Indeed, since Obama became President, the working age population has increased by 8.4 million. At the same labor force participation rate as when Obama entered office, that would require 5.52 million new jobs just to keep pace with that population growth. The total number of net new jobs created since Obama became President according to the BLS: 787,000.

“But not to worry. The BLS also reported on Friday that the number of full time jobs actually declined last month by 216,000. Thank you, President Obama…”

Vision to America: Obama’s Ring – “No God but Allah”

Thanks Ted,

“Now, newly published photographs of Obama from the 1980s show that the ring Obama wore on his wedding-ring finger as an unmarried student is the same ring Michelle Robinson put on his finger at the couple’s wedding ceremony in 1992.

Moreover, according to Arabic-language and Islamic experts, the ring Obama has been wearing for more than 30 years is adorned with the first part of the Islamic declaration of faith, the Shahada: “There is no God except Allah.”

“The Shahada is the first of the Five Pillars of Islam, expressing the two fundamental beliefs that make a person a Muslim: There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is Allah’s prophet.

“Sincere recitation of the Shahada is the sole requirement for becoming a Muslim…”
