Marc Levy, “Pa. voter ID law ruling could mean political swing”

Ruling due today…

“Pennsylvania’s new law, among the toughest in the nation, is a signature accomplishment of Republicans in control of Pennsylvania state government who say they fear election fraud. But it is an emotional target for Democrats who call it a Jim Crow-style scheme to make it harder for their party’s traditional voters, including young adults and minorities, who might not carry the right kind of ID or know about the law.

It was already a political lightning rod when a top state Republican lawmaker boasted to a GOP dinner in June that the ID requirement “is going to allow Gov. Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania.”

Victor Davis Hanson, NRO: The Neurotic Middle East

“The world tacitly exempts the Middle East from rules of civilized behavior.

“…Many of the things that are bothersome in the world today originate in the Middle East. Billions of air passengers each year take off their belts and shoes at the airport, not because of fears of terrorism from the slums of Johannesburg or because the grandsons of displaced East Prussians are blowing up Polish diplomats. We put up with such burdens because a Saudi multimillionaire, Osama bin Laden, and his unhinged band of Arab religious extremists began ramming airliners into buildings and murdering thousands.

“The Olympics have become an armed camp, not because the Cold War Soviets once stormed Montreal or the Chinese have threatened Australia, but largely because Palestinian terrorists butchered Israelis in Munich 40 years ago and established the precedent that international arenas were ideal occasions for political mass murder.

“There is no corn or wheat cartel. There are no cell-phone monopolies. Coal prices are not controlled by global price-fixers. Yet OPEC adjusts the supply of oil in the Middle East to ensure high prices, mostly for the benefit of Gulf sheikhdoms and assorted other authoritarian governments.

“Catholics don’t assassinate movie directors or artists who treat Jesus Christ with contempt. Jewish mobs will not murder cartoonists should they ridicule the Torah. Buddhists are not calling for global blasphemy laws. But radical Muslims, mostly in the Middle East, have warned the world that Islam alone is not to be caricatured — or else. Right-wing fascists and red Communists have not done as much damage to the First Amendment as have the threats from the Arab street…”

Tom Fitton, Big Govt: “Judicial Watch Pushes Ethics Investigation for MD Governor O’Malley”

“Recently, after Maryland Governor O’Malley signed off on a twisted and “comical” (to use the Washington Post description) gerrymandered congressional district plan, Judicial Watch successfully fought alongside to put the map on the ballot as well.

“Judicial Watch had previously waged a successful battle on behalf of to put taxpayer-funded tuition breaks for illegal aliens on the ballot in 2012, after illegal alien special interests tried to silence the voters on the matter.

“Now, Judicial Watch is focusing on a charge of corruption within the Governor’s office. According to a Judicial Watch investigation, it appears Governor O’Malley improperly used official office resources for personal and political purposes, which is a big “no-no” according to state law…”

Michael Ledeen, PJM: “When You Don’t Want to Know About the Real World, Your Spooks Won’t Tell You

“…the Eye altering alters all” William Blake, “The Mental Traveller,” 1866

“Too many members of the oracular elite don’t seem to get the connection between policy and intelligence. Or, if they do get it, they deny it, which also happens a fair amount of the time. The connection is simple enough: intelligence goes to the policy makers, and if they make it clear that they don’t want to see or hear about intel that suggests or proves something or other, the intel guys will make sure that the flow of such material shrivels up and dies. Why? Because they work in a closed market in which their success depends on selling to the very small number of clients: above all, the president and others in the executive branch. In recent years, legislators have become part of the mix, but the people at the top of the executive branch matter far more than the others.

“Ergo, if you’re a spook, and it becomes obvious that your biggest client does not want to hear about terror, you stop working very hard on it…”

Matthew Vadum, PJM: “Obama’s Invisible War Against Military Voters

“Almost no one has noticed that the Obama administration is waging war administratively against the voting rights of America’s warriors overseas.

“This bureaucratic assault comes in the form of the Obama administration’s unconscionable foot-dragging on the implementation of the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment (MOVE) Act, which President Obama signed into law in 2009. The legislation passed, in part, because the nonpartisan Military Voter Protection Project discovered in 2008 that under 20 percent of 2.5 million military personnel voted by absentee ballot. By 2010 that figure had shriveled to just 5 percent.

“But the Obama administration, which moves at light-speed to undermine common-sense state voter identification laws, hasn’t bothered to set up half of the installation voting assistance offices (IVAOs) required under the MOVE Act…”

Alex Pappas, Daily Caller: “Female swing voters like Romney’s new television ad

“Mitt Romney’s newest television ad has been effective in appealing to undecided female voters who supported President Obama in 2008, focus groups are indicating.

In his ‘Too Many Americans’ ad, which has began airing last week, Romney speaks directly to the camera and says, ‘President Obama and I both care about poor and middle-class families. The difference is my policies will make things better for them.’”

Zombie, PJM: “…Only 9% of Americans Cooperate with Pollsters

“One of the most amazing — and significant — statistics of this election season has gone almost completely unnoticed:

Only 9% of sampled households gave an answer to pollsters in 2012:

“It has become increasingly difficult to contact potential respondents and to persuade them to participate. The percentage of households in a sample that are successfully interviewed – the response rate – has fallen dramatically. At Pew Research, the response rate of a typical telephone survey was 36% in 1997 and is just 9% today.”

Josh Peterson, Daily Caller: “DOJ domestic phone, email, Internet surveillance of Americans skyrocketed under Obama

“Documents obtained by the ACLU through a Freedom of Information Act request revealed that under President Obama between 2009 and 2011, warrantless electronic surveillance requests by the Justice Department to spy on phone communications increased 60 percent from 23,535 to 37,616.

“The number of people whose phone calls were subject to such surveillance during that same time period tripled.

“Phone numbers called and received, emails sent and received, and other Internet communications were all monitored by the federal government via “pen register” and “trap and trace devices” — systems that measure the data, not the content, about the communication…”

Mike Flynn, Big Govt: “90% of US Households Face Huge Tax Hike Next Year”

“On November 7th, while cleaning crews are still tidying up from election night parties, America’s political class will be hurling themselves into another essential battle over government spending, taxes and debt. On January 2nd, 2013, absent some kind of budget deal, America will fall off the ‘fiscal cliff’ and face a massive tax increase and across the board cuts in government spending. Like most crisis these days, its [sic] a creation of politicians.

A new study from the Brookings Institution’s Tax Policy Center finds that the expiration of the Bush-ear tax cuts at the end of the year will hit Americans with a $500 billion tax hike…”

Josh Rogin, Foreign Policy: “Obama waives sanctions on countries that use child soldiers”

“U.S. President Barack Obama issued a new executive order last week to fight human trafficking, touting his administration’s handling of the issue.

“When a little boy is kidnapped, turned into a child soldier, forced to kill or be killed — that’s slavery,” Obama said in a speech at the Clinton Global Initiative. “It is barbaric, and it is evil, and it has no place in a civilized world. Now, as a nation, we’ve long rejected such cruelty.”

“But for the third year in a row, Obama has waived almost all U.S. sanctions that would punish certain countries that use child soldiers, upsetting many in the human rights community…”

CBS Washington: Drones Will Kill “More Ethically”

WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — Drones could soon operate without the help of humans.

Agence France-Presse is reporting that the Pentagon wants its drones to be more autonomous, so that they can run with little to no assistance from people.

“Before they were blind, deaf and dumb,” Mark Maybury, chief scientist for the U.S. Air Force, told AFP. “Now we’re beginning to make them to see, hear and sense.”

“Ronald Arkin, a professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology, believes that drones will soon be able to kill enemies on their own independently.

“‘It is not my belief that an unmanned system will be able to be perfectly ethical in the battlefield, but I am convinced that they can perform more ethically than human soldiers are capable of,’ Arkin told AFP…”

Victor Davis Hanson, PJM: “The Quiet Californians”

“No state has suffered the last four years as much as has California — given that its progressive governor and legislative majorities serve as force multipliers for the Obama national agenda. We live in a 2X Obama state. And it is desirous for twelve or sixteen, not just four, more years in Washington.

“The bluest state is polling at a 20 to 24 point lead for Barack Obama. Who cares that it is struggling with nearly 11% unemployment and facing a $16 billion budget shortfall? What does it matter that its public schools rated variously from 45th to 49th in the nation and that it is home to one-third of the nation’s welfare recipients, forty percent of the nation’s illegal aliens, and the largest prison population in the country? If Ohio supposedly has a million Obama-phones, I shudder to wonder how many are in California.

“Bleak? But such stats do not necessarily translate into the bad life for those Californians who vote — a least in comparison, I suppose, to Minnesota’s winters, Mississippi’s rate of welfare payouts, Baltimore’s streets, or Mexico’s police. We are living on the fumes of natural wealth and a century of prior investment by some pretty hard-working and far-sighted long dead Californians; and it takes a long time to screw all that up.

“Indeed, the state’s voting population accepts the status quo…”

Liz Klimas, The Blaze: “…Republican Female Lawmakers Look More Feminine …”

“…University of California-Los Angeles has taken a look at female politicians from both parties to judge their femininity and how it could be linked to pre-judgments about them made by voters.

What the research found was that Republican women were more likely to have what would be considered feminine facial features, whereas Democratic women “strayed from stereotypical gender norms,” as the UCLA press release described it. The researchers found that students, who were not informed as to the voting records of female politicians, when shown portraits, identified those with more feminine faces accurately as conservatives…”

Star Parker, Town Hall: “Can’t Promote Freedom Abroad as it Disappears at Home”

“With reality so different from how our president wishes to portray it, he has little interest in seeing things as they really are.

“The president delivered a ‘Kumbaya’ appeal this past week to the current session of the United Nations General Assembly. The pitch, about peaceful resolution of disputes, tolerance, and free speech, was clearly aimed at Muslim nations.

“The following day, Egypt’s newly elected Muslim Brotherhood President Morsi stood before the General Assembly and gave his reply. No thanks…”

Aaron Klein, KleinonLine: Libyan Fast and Furious

“JERUSALEM — Almost entirely missing from the debate surrounding the anti-U.S. attacks in Libya is the implementation there of a policy of arming jihadists, a controversy that could rival the “Fast and Furious” scandal in which government agencies are accused of walking guns into Mexico with the purpose of arming the Mexican drug cartel in order to track the weapons.

“The policy to which I refer may even trump the Iran-Contra affair that saw senior Reagan administration officials in the 1980’s secretly facilitate the sale of arms to Iran hoping to secure the release of hostages.

“In the case of Libya, our arming of jihadists may have directly resulted in the September 11th attacks against the U.S. consulate in Benghazi and the subsequent murder of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith, and private security employees and former U.S. Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods.

“After changing its story multiple times, the White House on Friday finally conceded the deadly assault on the US consulate was a planned attack linked to Al-Qaeda, as per information released by national intelligence agencies…”

Interview by John Batchelor:

Aaron Klein, KleinonLine: “Creepy Occupy plots Halloween havoc. Masked activists to trick or treat Congress, ‘party like we’ve never partied before’”

“In a creepy posting, the Occupy group has called for a “Halloween night party” in Washington, DC next month in which protesters are asked to wear masks to “trick or treat” Congress and “party like we’ve never partied before.”

The odd event is slated for dusk on October 31. It was announced on the Adbusters website, which serves as one of the main planning hubs of the Occupy movement.

The dictate for Halloween protesters to bring masks may be telling. This past May, Adbusters announced a shift in Occupy tactics away from routine protests and toward anarchy actions, including what is known as Black bloc tactics.

Black bloc is a tactic whereby protesters wear black clothing, scarves, ski masks, motorcycle helmets with padding, or other face-concealing items. Black bloc anarchists use the concealment to commit violent or illegal acts.

Buck Sexton, The Blaze: “Obama’s Islamist Solidarity Failed to Prevent Attacks – And Never Will”

“While President Obama’s administration perpetuates the charade that an obscure YouTube video is the cause of widespread Muslim rage, the world received a lesson in jihadist reality over the weekend.

“Yesterday Muslim protestors in Karachi, Pakistan, looted and destroyed a Hindu temple and rioters in Bangladesh burned down five Buddhist temples. The same day, a Shiite Islamic school was bombed in the northern Nigerian city of Zaria. And a series of shootings occurred in southern Thailand, followed by ominous notes to business owners that they must close shop on Fridays to honor Islamic law.

“This string of terrorist acts thousands of miles apart came on the heels of President Obama’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly during which he said: ‘The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.’ Such an astonishing statement of solidarity with the Islamists from our Commander-in-Chief did nothing to calm their rage. And it never will…”

Penny Starr, CNS: “U.S. Gov’t Employees Among Top Campaign Contributors to Obama; Bankers Among Top Contributors to Romney”

“( – U.S. government employees and their families have thus far contributed $396,550 to President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign, making them one of the top five sources of cash for the campaign to reelect the president, according to

“Employees of the U.S. State Department and their families have, by themselves, contributed $213,256 to the Obama reelection campaign. Standing alone, State Department employees and their families are the 17th largest contributors to the Obama campaign, ranking just above the employees and family members of Wells Fargo, who have contributed $202,216 to the Obama campaign.

“By contrast, employees of five major banks and their families have been among the top sources of campaign funds for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

“The academic community has also been very supportive of President Obama’s reelection bid…” =

Melissa Daniels, PA Independent: “Taxes will come due for renters if state nixes property levies”

“HARRISBURG — Eliminating school property taxes in Pennsylvania means some will win, others will lose.

“The winners are retired homeowners, who could see a 37 percent decrease in their tax liability, according to the latest analysis of the most visible proposal on the table.

“The losers are working renters, who could see a nearly 11 percent increase in tax spending.

“The tax reform proposal spelled out in House Bill 1776 and Senate Bill 1400 aims to swap about $13 billion in school property taxes annually with increases in sales tax, an expanded sales tax base and an increase in personal income taxes.

“The latest figures, from a much-anticipated analysis by the state Legislature’s Independent Fiscal Office, show a windfall gain for homeowners but inconclusive results for the rest…”

Bob Guzzardi – Dave Freed Desperate

Tom Corbett’s Man Dave Freed is desperate with phony negative ad against Kathleen Kane.

Jeremy Allen, MichiganLive, $1.84 Gas

“The gas station announced early today that it would host a gas rollback event for the Americans for Prosperity-Michigan’s “Obama’s Failing Agenda” bus tour. The group said that the $1.84 per gallon price reflects the cost of gas in 2008, before President Barack Obama took office.

“Hundreds of cars lined up to get a piece of the savings, but the group had to turn away as many people as got the discounted gas…”

ACTION ALERT: Smart Meters Protest – October 4th

October 4th is National Day to protest against Smart Meters. I am trying to organize a trip to Harrisburg to protest the PUC. They are the group who is mandating PECO put these dangerous meters on your house. If everyone could send out to as many people as possible, that would be great.

Anyone interested, please let me know. I am trying to work with groups around PA to get this moving. After the protest, we need to go into the reps offices and urge them to push the bills out of committee.
