Lisa Esler: Last Leg of Roger Howard Campaign
“This is the last leg of the race. I need everyone to catch me up on where they are with the campaign. PLEASE read through the email and respond accordingly.
For anyone who has a street list right now, I need to know if you have enough literature to finish. If you are not going to finish PLEASE return to me so I can see what still needs to be done.
During the week and next weekend we are going to concentrate on literature drops only so if you are not comfortable with talking to people, this might be something you can do. There is still A LOT of homes we have not reached so we must deal with the masses at this point. If you want a list to do during the week, let me know.
We will be meeting on Saturday & Sunday, April 21st and 22nd at the Burger King in Aston on Rt 452 (Pennell rd) to do literature drop offs-Please let me know if you can help. Saturday 9:45; Sunday 1:00
I am still in need of SEVERAL poll volunteers on election day. This could be make or break for Roger Howard’s victory and a victory for Pa.
We can win this and Pileggi knows it.
As always, donations are appreciated
Call me with any questions, Thanks, Lisa, 484-995-1540
Tony Lee, BigJournalism: Politifact – Women’s Jobs Gone at 92%
“In two separate instances, Politifact has contradicted itself with its rating of the accurate claim made by the Romney campaign that women account for 92.3 percent of the jobs lost under President Obama.
“The ‘fact checking’ organization, which the mainstream media treats as an unbiased and neutral arbiter, showed how much it is willing to stretch the truth to support Obama and undermine Republicans.
“On April 5, Politifact conceded that the 92.3 percent figure cited by the Romney campaign was accurate and, then, promptly — and unbelievably — said that the claims made by the Romney campaign were ‘mostly false.’
“Politifact’s report left many scratching their heads, and one such person was Lanhee Chen, Romney’s Policy Director, who fired off an e-mail that eviscerated Politifact’s analysis point by point…”
John Fund, NRO: Unpunished Lawbreakers
“…It is exceedingly strange for Holder to praise the likes of Al Sharpton and bring him greetings from President Obama. But it is even stranger that Holder should pledge to the Sharpton activists that he will take appropriate federal action against any civil-rights crime, while he appears completely uninterested in the ugly forces calling for violence against George Zimmerman….”
Pete Sepp, Nat’l Taxpayers Union: Taxpayer Defenders Still Swamped by Spenders
“…National Taxpayers Union’s 2011 Rating shows a Congress making some progress toward the limited, affordable government taxpayers deserve while still having a long way to go,” said NTU President Duane Parde. “For every single Taxpayers’ Friend who bravely sought to conquer Washington’s mound of fiscal woes, four Big Spenders worked to make the pile of problems even more difficult to climb.”
“…The best performance in the House belonged to Representative John Duncan, Jr. (R-TN), with a 93 percent. Close behind him with rounded scores of 92 percent were Ed Royce (R-CA), Ron Paul (R-TX), and John Campbell (R-CA). Although Duncan has been a consistently high scorer, this is his first time atop the winner’s podium. It also brings to a close the m”…ost remarkable fiscal record NTU’s Rating of Congress has ever logged, from outgoing Representative Jeff Flake (R-AZ). For eight consecutive years (2003-2010), Flake had the best finish in the House…”
“…Meanwhile, in the Senate, another veteran pro-taxpayer stalwart, Tom Coburn (R-OK), has earned the top prize with a 96 percent score. Coburn has occupied the number one slot before, in 2009. Recently elected Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) came in second with a 95 percent.
“On the other end of the scale, Representative Andre Carson (D-IN) had the worst House score, roughly 6 percent. Dale Kildee (D-MI) also came in at about 6 percent. Among Senators, Sherrod Brown (D-OH) had the rock-bottom score at 6 percent, while both Bob Casey (D-PA) and Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) had fractionally higher scores that still rounded to 6 percent… (emph added, jb)”
Mark Steyn, NRO: The “Buffet Rule” a “Pathetic Sleight of Hand”
“In the end, free societies get the governments they deserve. So, if the American people wish to choose their chief executive on the basis of the “war on women,” the Republican theocrats’ confiscation of your contraceptives, or whatever other mangy and emaciated rabbit the Great Magician produces from his threadbare topper, they are free to do so, and they will live with the consequences. This week’s bit of ham-handed misdirection was “the Buffett Rule,” a not-so-disguised capital-gains tax hike designed to ensure that Warren Buffett pays as much tax as his secretary. If the alleged Sage of Omaha is as exercised about this as his public effusions would suggest, I’d be in favor of repealing the prohibition on Bills of Attainder, and the old boy could sleep easy at night. But instead every other American “millionaire” will be subject to the new rule – because, as President Obama said this week, it “will help us close our deficit.”
“Wow! Who knew it was that easy?
“Office (the same nonpartisan bean counters who project that on Obama’s current spending proposals the entire U.S. economy will cease to exist in 2027) Obama’s Buffett Rule will raise – stand well back – $3.2 billion per year. Or what the United States government currently borrows every 17 hours. So in 514 years it will have raised enough additional revenue to pay off the 2011 federal budget deficit. If you want to mark it on your calendar, 514 years is the year 2526. There’s a sporting chance Joe Biden will have retired from public life by then, but other than that I’m not making any bets…”
Conn Carroll, Washington Examiner: “Obama Regs to Cut 7 Million Car Buyers from Market
“…Obama’s proposed CAFE standards, which will begin taking effect in 2017, raise minimum average vehicle fleet fuel efficiency to 54.5 mpg by 2025. The Environmental Protection Agency and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimate that this regulation will raise the average price of passenger cars and light trucks by $3,000.
“The unintended consequences of the proposed fuel economy increases are clear,” NADA Used Car Guide analyst David Wagner said. “If the price of a vehicle goes up by the government estimate of almost $3,000, millions of people will no longer be able to finance a new vehicle.”
“Not only would Obama’s fuel efficiency regulations make it impossible for lower income Americans to afford new cars, but it will also increase deaths…”
Earle & Kaplan, NY Post: Hooker Flap Started with $47
This seems unfair … the guards stiffed a hooker for $50 and everyone wants to investigate. Obama has a very thick file of deceit and almost no one says a word …
“A Secret Service agent shamed the United States after a wild night of babes and booze that ended in an argument with a Colombian hooker over as little as $47.
One of 11 elite agents assigned to ensure President Obama’s protection at a summit meeting in Cartagena, Colombia, was busted after his lady of the evening refused to leave his hotel room in the morning without her fee.
That woman was one of 11 hookers hired by the agents — and the only one who hadn’t left Cartagena’s swank Hotel Caribe, where White House staffers, members of the press and dignitaries are staying during the Summit of the Americas meeting, sources said.
McIntire & Luo, NYT: Lobbyist Access to Prez
“…Although Mr. Obama has made a point of not accepting contributions from registered lobbyists, a review of campaign donations and White House visitor logs shows that special interests have had little trouble making themselves heard. Many of the president’s biggest donors, while not lobbyists, took lobbyists with them to the White House, while others performed essentially the same function on their visits.
More broadly, the review showed that those who donated the most to Mr. Obama and the Democratic Party since he started running for president were far more likely to visit the White House than others. Among donors who gave $30,000 or less, about 20 percent visited the White House, according to a New York Times analysis that matched names in the visitor logs with donor records. But among those who donated $100,000 or more, the figure rises to about 75 percent…”
Daily Caller: iPhone App Calculates your Debt Bomb
And it’s a great way to collect more of your personal information …
“…Debt Bomb — based on the U.S. tax code and publicly available data from the Congressional Budget Office and other government sources — allows users to project how a raise in taxes would cost in their personal income taxes over the years. In order to make a projection, users input basic income tax data — modeled after what a household pays in taxes — into the app.
“Debt is going to be one of the defining things that is going to come up and bite us,” Kyle Smith, the app’s creator, told The Daily Caller. “People have a hard time conceptualizing big numbers.”
“The app, developed by Nassau Research LLC in Austin, Texas, launched Thursday in the iTunes App Store…”
Bill Kristol, Weekly Standard: NYT Dumps on Breitbart
“There’s a profile of the late Andrew Breitbart in the New York Times “Sunday Styles” section by reporter David Carr. Carr’s a talented and fair journalist, by Times standards, and the piece is mostly fair enough. But in the middle of it is this striking sentence, or rather this striking parenthesis:
“”For good or ill (and most would say ill), no one did it like Mr. Breitbart.”
“Most would say ill?” Really? I know of no empirical evidence that backs up this statement. If anything, my experience has been the opposite—almost all conservatives would say Andrew was a force for good, and even some liberals would deny he was a force for ill…”
Joel Pollack, BigPeace: UK Muslim Offers $16 Million for Capture of Obama and/or Bush
“Lord Nazir Ahmed, the first Muslim life peer of the British House of Lords, has offered a bounty of £10 million (about $16 million) for the capture of President Barack Obama, as well as that of former President George W. Bush, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), citing the Pakistani press.
“Lord Ahmed is originally from Pakistani Kashmir, a region in which terrorists have pressed Pakistani territorial claims.
“The bounty was Lord Ahmed’s response to the U.S. government’s recent offer of a $10 million reward for the capture of Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, founder of the Pakistani terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, which carried out the deadly Mumbai attacks of November 2008…”
Josef Federman, SFGate: ISR Boots Fly-In Activists
“Israel detained dozens of international activists as they landed at its main airport on Sunday, preventing them from entering the country to participate in a planned solidarity mission with Palestinians in the West Bank.
“Israel said the activists, part of an umbrella group called “Welcome to Palestine,” were provocateurs who posed a security threat. But organizers said the event, meant to draw attention to Israeli travel restrictions on Palestinians, was nonviolent, and they accused Israel of using heavy-handed tactics to stamp out legitimate protest…”
Breitbart: Netanyahu – Iran Got a Freebie
“… ‘My initial impression is that Iran has been given a freebie,’ Netanyahu was reported to have said on April 15.
President Obama responded Sunday, defending his diplomatic strategy. “We’re not going to have these talks just drag out in a stalling process, but so far at least, we haven’t given away anything,” he told reporters.
“‘Part of the reason we’ve been able to build a strong international coalition that isolates Iran around the nuclear issue is because the world has confidence that I’ve been sincere and my administration has been sincere about giving Iran an opportunity to pursue peaceful nuclear energy while foreclosing the pursuit of a nuclear weapon,’ Obama said, according to Politico…”
Miriam Elder, UK Guardian: Moscow Seeks to Filter Internet
“… ‘It’s too late to change things,’ said Anton Nossik, an internet guru. ‘Kids are now born into the internet and grew up in the internet. Like it or not, you have to embrace it.’
“That is the view of most internet observers in Russia: that it’s too late, and too technologically complicated, to institute a China-style firewall. Yet the government is infamous for its attention to propaganda, and for the power of its suspicious spy services, and there are signs that it is seeking to boost its ability to control the internet.
“Opposition bloggers and activists have already come under attack from the state, via prosecutors and the Federal Security Service (FSB), the main successor agency to the KGB. Some have been arrested, others called in for questioning. Websites have been shut by spurious means. But for now, it has been an entirely ad hoc approach…”
Barry Rubin, PJM: Marxism Helps to Understand the Left
“Ironically, those opposing the current hegemonic ideas and political forces in the United States and Europe must develop a Marxist-style analysis of what has happened. To call the current dominant ideas and political currents socialist, Marxist, Communist, leftist, progressive, or liberal is not meaningful and conceals more than it reveals. The movement must be understood on its own terms in order to understand it and see how it differs from its predecessors.
“The problem of revolutionary movements has been to find a group to be the motive force in fundamentally transforming society. Next, they must analyze which groups can be made into allies and which must be defeated…”

Byron York, Washington Examiner: “Buffet Rule” to Die
“At times it seems President Obama believes the Buffett Rule — his proposal that Americans making more than $1 million a year pay at least 30 percent in federal income taxes — is the only solution needed to solve the nation’s staggering fiscal crisis. But with a Senate vote coming Monday in which the measure faces united Republican opposition — plus no future in the House — this week is likely to mark the end of the Buffett Rule as a major part of the Obama agenda. That’s not just because of the political opposition; just as important, the Buffett Rule is running into a dead end because a significant part of the political class in Washington has finally admitted the idea is little more than a gimmick that would do nothing to fix the country’s problems.
“Of course, conservatives and Republicans have thought that all along. But in recent days, the trouble for Obama has been far broader, as commentators and politicians — faced with nonpartisan estimates that enacting the Buffett Rule would raise about $4.7 billion in revenue per year, less than a drop in the bucket of a $1 trillion-plus annual deficit — admitted that there’s just not much there…”
Wade Gilley, Times Dispatch: College $ the Next Bubble?
“Student debt is quickly becoming a critical American economic issue. According to USA Today the amount of outstanding student debt is approaching $1 trillion, not including credit card debt, and will jump again this year as college gets more expensive and jobs harder to find. Student debt is now the No. 1 consumer debt in the nation.
“And according to The Project on Student Debt, some 37 million current and former students owed more than $25,000 each in student debt in 2010 (not counting credit card debt), and a recent news report indicates that perhaps one third are at least one month late on their payments. Most are trying to at least pay the interest to keep their debt from ballooning in a lackluster national economy. And to complicate things the interest charged on student debt is due to double from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent on federally subsidized student loans. (Time magazine, March 20, 2012.)
“Further, institutions have used easy credit to incur hundreds of billions of dollars in debt, which the students of the future will have to pay off. And in a time of easy credit, many states, including Virginia, have pushed more and more of the cost of a college education to students. Congress not only facilitated the growth of student debt but made it impossible for students to free themselves from excessive student debt through mechanisms like bankruptcy. This debt is here to stay.
“If college degrees were the tremendous economic assets that they were 30 or 40 years ago, then this would be less of an issue. However …”
Steven Nelson, Daily Caller: Orrin Hatch Hates TEA
“…Hatch was first elected to the Senate in 1976. This year, major conservative groups announced their intention of defeating Hatch — who they deemed too moderate. FreedomWorks has reportedly spent at least $670,000 attacking Hatch this cycle.
But the long-time senator isn’t sitting on his hands. Hatch told NPR’s Howard Berkes, “These people are not conservatives. They’re not Republicans.”
“They’re radical libertarians and I’m doggone offended by it,” he said.
Hatch’s most prominent Republican challenger, former state Sen. Dan Liljenquist, appears to be underperforming expectations in local caucuses thus far. He lost his home caucus last month.
“I despise these people,” Hatch added, “and I’m not the guy you come in and dump on without getting punched in the mouth…”

Colorado’s Last Republican
“Blanchard, Michael ‘Flathead’”
“1944 ~ 2012
“A Celebration of the life of Michael ‘Flathead’ Blanchard will be held on April 14th, 3 pm 8160 Rosemary St, Commerce City. Weary of reading obituaries noting someone’s courageous battle with death, Mike wanted it known that he died as a result of being stubborn, refusing to follow doctors’ orders and raising hell for more than six decades. He enjoyed booze, guns, cars and younger women until the day he died.
“Mike was born July 1944 in Colorado to Clyde and Ethel Blanchard. A community activist, he is noted for saving the Dr. Justina Ford house from demolition and defending those who could not defend themselves. He was a Republican delegate, life member of the NRA, founder and President of the Dead Cats MC. He loved music.
“Mike was preceded in death by Clyde and Ethel Blanchard, survived by his beloved sons Mike and Chopper, former wife Jane Transue, brother Stephen Blanchard (Susan), Uncle Don and Aunt Cynthia Blanchard(his favorite); Uncle Dill and Aunt Dot, cousins and nephews, Baba Yaga can kiss his butt. So many of his childhood friends that weren’t killed in Vietnam went on to become criminals, prostitutes and/or Democrats. He asks that you stop by and re-tell the stories he can no longer tell. As the Celebration will contain Adult material we respectfully ask that no children under 18 attend.”
