Chiefs of Staff: More Health Care Vote Saturday
Saturday’s vote is an argument about moving to the next step in an argument. Nonetheless, there’s $100 million in it for Mary Landrieu’s state of Louisiana.

Rick Santorum mentioned Ben Nelson as another pivot because of abortion funding…and Senator Coburn could insist on an oral reading of the bill.
HR 95: Still Locked Up in Babette’s Desk?
Representatives are most responsive to the people who vote for them…at least near elections. They are more often responsive to their friends and enemies in the legislature. And when a representative takes on tasks such as Veterans Affairs, Education, Health, or whatever, they affect all of us, not just their small set of voters. Babette Josephs of Philadelphia is first the concern of Philadelphians. But her stashing away HR95 is of concern to all of us. And so is her role in defending ACORN’s access to our cash for voter fraud, intimidation, and campaign contributions.

“Oklahoma law passed, 37 to 9, had a few liberals in the mix, an amendment to place the Ten Commandments on the front entrance to the state capitol. The feds in D.C., along with the ACLU, said it would be a mistake. Hey this is a conservative state, based on Christian values…! HB 1330
“Guess what………. Oklahoma did it anyway.
“Oklahoma recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from unless they want to get a green card and become an American citizen. They all scattered. HB 1804. Hope we didn’t send any of them to your state. This was against the advice of the Federal Government, and the ACLU, they said it would be a mistake.

Hunger in US: a 14-Year High
Less pumpkin pie…weather interfered with the harvest. And less of Oprah who moves to another format…
“The number of Americans who lived in households that lacked consistent access to adequate food soared last year, to 49 million, the highest since the government began tracking what it calls “food insecurity” 14 years ago, the Department of Agriculture reported Monday.
“The increase, of 13 million Americans, was much larger than even the most pessimistic observers of hunger trends had expected and cast an alarming light on the daily hardships caused by the recession’s punishing effect on jobs and wages.
“About a third of these struggling households had what the researchers called “very low food security,” meaning lack of money forced members to skip meals, cut portions or otherwise forgo food at some point in the year.
“The other two-thirds typically had enough to eat, but only by eating cheaper or less varied foods, relying on government aid like food stamps, or visiting food pantries and soup kitchens.”

Palin/Bruce: Biographies
I bought Sarah’s Going Rogue. It’s readable, fun, and sometimes tear-provoking…a clear reminder of how most of us used to be. Lenny Bruce’s autobiography – How to Influence People by Talking Dirty – arrived the same day: He was a Brooklyn kid whose contrasts with Sarah in rearing and outlooks could not be greater. Pogo was almost right: The enemy is some of us but there are a lot of them.
