CBS: Cain Caught Romney

Tied at 17% with GOP primary voters…

James Antle, III, American Spectator:  Cain up in GA, WVa, & NCarolina

“A trio of polls released today show Herman Cain leading three Southern Republican primary races. Insider Advantage shows Cain with a 27-point lead in his native Georgia, taking 41 percent ofthe vote. Public Policy Polling has Cain up by 6 in West Virginia with 24 percent of the vote and up 10 in North Carolina with 27 percent. All three polls show Newt Gingrich in second, Mitt Romney in third, and Rick Perry in fourth. Cain also leads a PPP survey of Nebraska Republicans.

“The fact that Cain, who is black, leads in these states is unlikely to challenge the liberal narrative of Southern Republican racism, particularly in West Virginia, a historically Democratic state where the opposition to President Obama has been viewed as racial in nature.”

Balz & Cohen, WaPo: Perry Slips, Cain Climbs

“After a quick rise in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, Texas Gov. Rick Perry has experienced an almost equally dramatic decline, losing about half of his support over the past month, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

“Perry’s slide, which comes after several uneven performances in candidate debates, has allowed former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney to resurface atop the GOP field. But the most direct beneficiary of the disenchantment with Perry is businessman Herman Cain, who is now tied for second place…”

Meanwhile, Colin Hanna, Let Freedom Ring, recommended Cain/Rubio in Tuesday’s Mercury.

Martin, Haberman, & Burns: Politico: Christie Won’t Run…

“TRENTON, N.J. — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie announced Tuesday that he would not join the 2012 presidential race, saying he’d returned to his original feeling about staying out despite reconsidering in recent days.

“In the end, what I’ve always felt was the right decision remains the right decision today. Now is not my time. I have a commitment to the people of New Jersey that I simply will not abandon,” Christie said, speaking to reporters in Trenton. “People sent me to Trenton to get a job done, and I’m just not prepared to walk away…””

Bob Guzzardi: Red State Challenges Tim Murphy

I spoke with Evan Feinberg this morning and I know a number of people who have met him. He worked with Heritage as a researcher on School Choice issues and was a staffer for Sen. Tom Coburn and then Sen. Rand Paul.

The district voted 65% for Pat Toomey and is a plus 6 or plus 8, that is, tends ‘conservative’.

Evan Feinberg tells me that he will be able to tap into national money to challenge the liberal and obnoxious Tim Murphy.

Evan Feinberg has filed his FEC papers and will be opening a bank account tomorrow. His website will be up in a few days.

This is race that can be won.

Regaining Control When Your Congressman is Out of Control

“Erickson’s Note: Starting last week and each week from here on, I’ve decided to focus on a Republican in the House or Senate the Tea Party should consider primarying. I think we are too distracted by Presidential politics and cannot afford to keep on keeping on in the House and Senate.

“Last week I started with Martha Roby. This week, another one. Each week, based on finding pitiful scores in the Heritage Action for America rankings and considering the districts at stake, I’ll highlight a new one. This should be fun.

He was elected in 2002. He is serving his fifth term in Congress.

In 2003, his first year in Congress, he voted for a massive omnibus spending bill and the Medicare prescription drug benefit .  .  .

“Think he might be just a reasonable moderate but a good and honorable elected official? He was accused of using taxpayer resources for campaign purposes by a member of his own staff, fired the staffer, and then got huffy in public when confronted by the media.

“His name is Tim Murphy, and he needs to be primaried. (emph added, jb)

Victor Davis Hanson, NRO: Ten Lessons from Obama

“The election of Barack Obama brought all sorts of contradictions. A man with about the least prior executive experience in presidential history was suddenly acclaimed a “god” and the smartest man ever to assume the office.

“Most important, a number of critical changes were heralded that would help address the supposed disasters of the Bush administration: a new “reset” foreign policy, a Keynesian economic miracle, a commitment to “millions of green jobs,” and a promise to end politics as usual, specifically the hardball divisive rancor of the past. Obamism, in short, was not a mere change in administration, but a religion.

“In less than three years, however, the Obama administration has established a far different legacy from the one it promised, and the lessons of 2009–2011 will be with us for a long time…”

James Antle, III, American Spectator: Craig Becker, NLRB, & Boeing

Thanks Ted,

“For the last few months, Boeing has been clashing with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) over its decision to locate a plant in South Carolina. The NLRB argues that the airplane manufacturer illegally moved work from union factories in Washington State to a new $1 billion facility in the right-to-work Palmetto State.

“NLRB lawyers maintain this is straightforward retaliation against union workers, based on comments allegedly made by Boeing executives themselves. Business leaders have denounced this as an unprecedented bit of federal pro-union advocacy, with the House of Representatives last week voting to halt the Boeing case and others like it.

“The battle may soon intensify. Federal financial disclosure forms reveal that Craig Becker, a key union-friendly vote on the NLRB, owned stock in Boeing at the beginning of this year. Becker is one of federal agency’s Democratic board members…”

Andrew  McCarthy, NRO: ‘Holder’s Dubious History”

“The AG’s Fast & Furious amnesia is reminiscent of his Marc Rich amnesia.

House Republicans are now calling for a special counsel to investigate whether Attorney General Eric Holder perjured himself in congressional testimony about the scandalous Fast & Furious program. Specifically, the attorney general claimed on May 3 that he had only “over the last few weeks” heard about the reckless gun-walking program his Justice Department was running with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) — a program in which guns were steered to violent Mexican gangs with predictably lethal results, including the murder of a Border Patrol agent. Contrary to Holder’s testimony, it is now being reported that he had actually been receiving briefings on the program since early summer 2010.

“I’m shocked, shocked to hear it…”

Richard Serrano, LA Times: Gun running – Holder Knew . . .

“…Justice Department officials said Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. routinely received reports about myriad ongoing investigations around the country, and that the reports did not disclose that ATF agents were purposely “walking” the weapons. They said Issa received a similar Fast and Furious update last year.
“But congressional investigators said the memos suggested Holder had hedged what he knew.
“According to the emails, Holder was told generally about Fast and Furious in the memos in July, October and November 2010, well before he told congressional committees he had first learned of the program…”,0,6104103.story

Holder Perjured Self: Bob Owens, PJM:

News documents indicate that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder more than likely perjured himself in congressional testimony about Operation Fast and Furious earlier this year…”

Fox: Special Counsel Requested by Congress

“EXCLUSIVE: House Republicans are calling for a special counsel to determine whether Attorney General Eric Holder misled Congress during his testimony to the House Judiciary Committee on Operation Fast and Furious, Fox News has learned.

“House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, R-Texas, was sending a letter to President Obama on Tuesday arguing that Holder cannot investigate himself, and requesting the president instruct the Department of Justice to appoint a special counsel.

“The question is whether Holder knowingly made false statements of fact under oath during a Judiciary Committee hearing on May 3. At the time, Holder indicated he was not familiar with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives program known as Fast and Furious until about April 2011.”

Andrew Breitbart, Big Govt: Obama Marched with New Black Panthers

Thanks Lou,

“New photographs obtained exclusively by reveal that Barack Obama appeared and marched with members of the New Black Panther Party as he campaigned for president in Selma, Alabama in March 2007.

“The photographs, captured from a Flickr photo-sharing account before it was scrubbed, are the latest evidence of the mainstream media’s failure to examine Obama’s extremist ties and radical roots.

“In addition, the new images raise questions about the possible motives of the Obama administration in its infamous decision to drop the prosecution of the Panthers for voter intimidation.

“The images, presented below, also renew doubts about the transparency of the White House’s guest logs–in particular, whether Panther National Chief Malik Zulu Shabazz is the same “Malik Shabazz” listed among the Obama administration’s early visitors…”

We kill the lesbian… When you get through killing them all, go to the goddamn graveyard and dig up the grave and kill them a-goddamn-gain because they didn’t die hard enough.”

“After Muhammad’s death, Malik Zulu Shabazz became President of the New Black Panther Party, and continued Muhammad’s racist, sexist, homophobic, and antisemitic extremism…”

Black Panther Prez Admits Phila Voter Intimidation

“The Justice Department has seen fit to drop voter intimidation charges against Malik Shabazz’ New Black Panther Party’s involvement in the now infamous events at a polling place in Philadelphia on November 4, 2008. In light of the recent testimony by former DOJ attorney J. Christian Adams before the U.S. Civil Rights Commission, the story is gaining further attention and scrutiny.

“Now, is featuring a newly discovered video showing Shabazz boasting about his organizations intentions that day in Philadelphia…”

J. Christian Adams: Injustice: Exposing the Racial Agenda of the Obama Justice Department

Released yesterday…the next election can be won or lost depending on what we do with this in Philadelphia…..

“The book begins during the Bush administration with a story from Noxubee County, Miss., where Adams joined fellow Civil Rights Division attorney Chris Coates and others from the DOJ in investigating discrimination against white voters by a black leader. Inside the DOJ, especially in the Civil Rights Division, Coates and Adams faced adamant opposition to investigating and litigating the Noxubee case. Adams says it wasn’t because there was a lack of evidence or because the accusations were frivolous — according to him, it was because it was a case about discrimination against white people, and had been for several elections. Adams says this was a real-life example of “reverse racism.”

“Adams argues that because of Obama and Holder’s staffing and selective enforcement, the Noxubee case is just the beginning, and Americans should be ready for an onslaught of similar situations in coming years. In a chapter titled “Personnel is Policy,” Adams makes the case that Obama and Holder understand that a racist and extremist influence they install at the DOJ now will last for decades in the form of career attorneys.

“Litigation was brought against [Noxubee County Democratic Party Chairman] Ike Brown largely thanks to the efforts of one Department of Justice employee and the support he received from DOJ political appointees,” Adams writes. “This bears out an old axiom: Personnel is policy. And you have to hand it to Barack Obama — he understands this perfectly…”

Thomas Sowell, NRO: Stop Whining?

“Some of the policies most devastating to blacks have come from liberal Democrats.

If there was ever any doubt that the Democrats take the black vote for granted, that doubt should have been put to rest when Barack Obama told the Congressional Black Caucus, “Stop whining!”

“Have you ever before heard either a Democratic or a Republican leader tell his party’s strongest supporters, “Stop whining”?

“Blacks have a lot to complain about, not just about this Democratic administration but about many other Democratic administrations, national and local, over the years…”

Michael Flaherty, WSJ: Latest Crime Wave … Send your Kid to a Better School

Thanks Rush,

“In case you needed further proof of the American education system’s failings, especially in poor and minority communities, consider the latest crime to spread across the country: educational theft. That’s the charge that has landed several parents, such as Ohio’s Kelley Williams-Bolar, in jail this year…

“These arrests represent two major forms of exasperation. First is that of parents whose children are zoned into failing public schools—they can’t afford private schooling, they can’t access school vouchers, and they haven’t won or haven’t even been able to enter a lottery for a better charter school. Then there’s the exasperation of school officials finding it more and more difficult to deal with these boundary-hopping parents.

“From California to Massachusetts, districts are hiring special investigators to follow children from school to their homes to determine their true residences and decide if they “belong” at high-achieving public schools. School districts in Florida, Pennsylvania and New Jersey all boasted recently about new address-verification programs (emph added, jb) designed to pull up their drawbridges and keep ‘illegal students’ from entering their gates…”

Benjamin Herold, Mike Nutter: “Passionate Advocacy”

“State Rep. Dwight Evans’ controversial behind-the-scenes involvement in a charter deal at Martin Luther King High worth an estimated $60 million over five years was “passionate advocacy,” according to Mayor Michael Nutter.

Appearing on WHYY’s Radio Times Monday morning, Nutter seemed to defend Evans’ role, which his chief integrity officer blasted in a scathing report released last month…”

Fran Tarkenton, WSJ: Teacher Unions Take Over NFL

Thanks Rush,

“Imagine the National Football League in an alternate reality. Each player’s salary is based on how long he’s been in the league. It’s about tenure, not talent. The same scale is used for every player, no matter whether he’s an All-Pro quarterback or the last man on the roster. For every year a player’s been in this NFL, he gets a bump in pay. The only difference between Tom Brady and the worst player in the league is a few years of step increases. And if a player makes it through his third season, he can never be cut from the roster until he chooses to retire, except in the most extreme cases of misconduct.

Let’s face the truth about this alternate reality: The on-field product would steadily decline. Why bother playing harder or better and risk getting hurt?

No matter how much money was poured into the league, it wouldn’t get better. In fact, in many ways the disincentive to play harder or to try to stand out would be even stronger with more money. ..”

NY Post: FDA Makes Cleaner Air Harder to Breath

Primatene Mist goes…

“On Jan. 1, a new federal rule meant to make the air cleaner is going to make it much harder for millions of Americans to breathe.

“Yes, you read that right: This choking irony comes thanks to the Food and Drug Administration, which is waging war on asthma inhalers for emitting trace amounts of greenhouse gases.

“Last month, the agency announced the ban of over-the-counter inhalers that use chemicals called CFCs to deliver medicine, based on the worry they’ll poke a teeny-tiny hole in the ozone layer.

“So 3 million asthmatics who prefer these inhalers will now have to pay triple to get prescription devices, just so a bunch of bureaucrats in Washington can breathe easy…”

Daily Caller: Rushbo – NYC Protests

SEIU and Soros probably have some influence…..

“‘You know what’s crazy about these people — these are the people that marched on the Brooklyn Bridge over the weekend and so forth,’ he said. ‘You know how stupid these people are? These people — they’re out marching for big government. They are advocating for Obama’s re-election. They are marching against Wall Street, who’s in bed with Obama.’

“Limbaugh alluded to Saturday’s march over the Brooklyn Bridge, which resulted in the arrest of 700 protesters, as evidence of the movement’s ineptitude.

“‘These people are tools,’ he continued. ‘They are abject tools. They are an embarrassment. The Vietnam War crowd is embarrassed at this bunch — how stupid they are. And then to be steered on to the Brooklyn Bridge where they can be charge with a crime for obstructing a roadway — they’re just a bunch of idiots.’

“And he added many of the protesters have a flawed perception of their effectiveness.

“‘These protests, I’m telling you I just have to laugh,’ he said. ‘They’re such rank amateurs and they think they’re so tough. They think they’re so powerful. The establishment that they hate is just using them … It’s fascinating to watch these people as they go out and protest the very thing they’re voting for.’”

Michael Hiestand, USA Today: Hank Williams for Prez . . .

“…Says ESPN, in a statement: “While Hank Williams Jr. is not an ESPN employee, we recognize he is closely linked to our company through the opening to Monday Night Football. We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result have decided” to pull the open from tonight’s telecast.”

“Williams, perhaps best known for his ‘are you ready for some football?’ lead-in to ESPN’s Monday Night Football, Monday compared this summer’s so-called golf summit between Obama and House Speaker John Boehner as “one of the biggest political mistakes ever.”

“As Williams put it on Fox News’ Fox & Friends: ‘It would be like Hitler playing golf with (Israeli leader) Benjamin Netanyahu.’

“When asked on Fox to explain his analogy, Williams said Obama and Vice President Biden are ‘the enemy.’”
