Hillsdale’s webinar, “Economic Liberty and the Constitution” is still up for viewing April 21st.
Sarah in Madison
Thank you, Mark Levin! Video also available….
She faced an angry crowd and kicked every one of them all in the gut…
“…Mr. President, the most basic tenet in that social compact is adhering to the consent of the governed. That would be “We the People.” President Obama, you do not have our consent. You didn’t have it in November. And you certainly don’t have it now. You willfully ignored the will of the American people.
– You ignored it when you rammed through Obamacare.
– You ignored it when you drove up the debt to $14.5 trillion.
– You ignored it when you misrepresented your deficit spending.
– You ignored it when you proposed massive tax increases on the middle class and our job creators.
– You ignored it when you went to bat for government-funded abortions and yet you threw our brave men and women in uniform under the bus, Mr. Commander in Chief.
– You ignored it when you got us into a third war for fuzzy and inconsistent reasons, a third war that we cannot afford.
– You ignore it when you apologize for America while you bow and kowtow to our enemies, and you snub our allies like Israel.
– And you ignore it when you manipulate the U.S. oil supply. You cut off oil development here and then you hypocritically praise foreign countries for their drilling.
– And when hardworking families are hit with $4 and $5 a gallon gas and your skyrocketing energy and food prices as you set out to fundamentally transform America, you ignore our concerns and you tell us we just better get used to it.
Well, Mr. President, we’re not going to get used to it (emph added, jb). Not now. Not ever. You ignored us in 2010. But you cannot ignore us in 2012.”
Christopher Friend, NewsMax: Bad Budgets and S&P
“”Here’s what the political class is missing. It makes no difference whether it’s conservatives or liberals making excuses for lack of cuts and justifying budgets deals, and it doesn’t matter how much merit their programs have.
Two plus two always equals four, whether or not we believe it. For all practical purposes, the United States’ insolvency it is a mathematical certainty, short of monumental change. Could the iceberg be averted? Sure, but the political will simply isn’t there from either Party to steer the ship to safety. From forsaking energy independence to raising debt ceilings to treating entitlements as sacred cows, the lack of inaction has led the Republic to the edge of the abyss.
And as Lou says to Charlie Sheen’s character in Wall Street: “Man looks in the abyss, and there’s nothing staring back at him. At that moment, man finds his character. And that is what keeps him out of the abyss.
…do we possess the character to keep us out of that abyss?”
Jonah Goldberg, NRO: The Donald
Incidentally, Mark Levin can’t stand Trump…
“…I understand why Republicans are so fickle. The GOP field is boring and cautious (though I think boring is an asset in a matchup against Barack Obama), while Trump is a fearless TV-star “birther” having a blast exploiting the media.
“So have your fun. But remember, Trump can’t help but be Trump. If he’s the GOP nominee (or if he runs as an independent), the fault for Obama’s reelection will not be the TV star’s, but ours.”
See also Katrina Trinko, NRO: “How Conservative Is Trump?”
“In a new interview, Donald Trump said that he believes the right to privacy exists in the Constitution, and blasted Paul Ryan’s budget as too extreme.
Pair those comments with some newly-circulating quotes of his from recent years praising the stimulus and supporting President Obama, and it becomes clear that Trump’s political conversion may be more recent — and less complete — than commonly assumed….”
$ BO’s Facebook Show @ 1%
“‘Hi, everybody,’ Mr. Obama says in the 30-second YouTube video posted Monday on his Facebook page. “I just want to take a minute to invite you to a town hall meeting on the economy that I’m holding at Facebook’s headquarters this Wednesday, April 20. It is going to be live-streamed, and I will answer questions from folks across the country.”
“By Tuesday afternoon, more than 22,000 people had signed up…
$ Daily Caller: Inspector General Going, Going….
“Two years after the departure of President George W. Bush, the White House has still not appointed 12 of the mandated 69 agency Inspectors General, and is leaving open slots at several scandal-plagued agencies, including the departments of justice, labor and urban development….
Matt Kibbe, Freedom Works: SB1
“I just wanted to quickly update you on our school choice campaign in Pennsylvania. SB1 – “The Opportunity Scholarship and Educational Improvement Tax Credit Act” – will be up in the state senate next week and we need YOUR help to make sure this important bill passes.
“SB1 offers Pennsylvanians a more competitive education system for fewer taxpayer dollars. It will improve the economy by lifting up people with real opportunities for a better life. And SB1 will be a major blow to the teachers unions, which care more about their own money and power than about educating students.
Please call the following senators and tell them to vote YES on SB1!!
Kim L. Ward (R-39) (717) 787-6063
John R. Gordner (R-27) (717) 787-8928
Patricia H. Vance (R-31) (717) 787-8524
Elder A. Vogel Jr. (R-47) (717) 787-3076
In order to make sure SB1 passes, FreedomWorks will be holding multiple school choice panels throughout Pennsylvania in the weeks to come.
If you would like to host a school choice event in your area, please send an email to David Spielman at email@example.com or call (202)-942-7607
$ Daily Caller: 4/23 – New Black Panthers Protest Everyone Else
“You picked on me so much for being blind that I forgot that I’m black.” David Patterson on SNL. Meanwhile, the NBP imitate TEA partiers but will probably leave messy lawns!
“The New Black Panthers plan to protest non-black establishments and entities via ‘rallies, marches, demonstrations, programs, and confrontations’ in over 60 cities.
“‘Because blacks worldwide are dissatisfied at their current condition,’ the Panther’s announcement explains.
“The group urges the authorities to leave them be, not to worry about the late April protests.
“‘This is organized by a new younger leadership un-approved by our former slave or colonial master,’ they explain. “We are grassroots activists, youths, residents, union members, community residents, spiritual people, revolutionaries and freedom fighters who have decided to take a stand together April 23rd….”
$ Marc Thiessen, WaPo: Debt Pressure Cooker for Boehner
“The Post reports this morning that freshmen House Republicans are under intense pressure to vote to raise the federal debt limit. In truth, the real pressure is now on Speaker John Boehner to deliver dramatic spending reductions in exchange for any debt-limit increase — thanks to the ever-shrinking budget deal he cut with President Obama.
“When it emerged that the agreement will reduce actual federal outlays by just $352 million this fiscal year, conservatives were infuriated. The agreement has produced a breach of trust between Republican leaders and their troops — on Capitol Hill and across America. Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.), a Tea Party favorite, spoke for many when he declared: “Character and integrity are important things with me. I like people to be upfront with me. Surprises are for birthdays. When you wake up, and all of sudden . . . it is really only $352 million in cuts, I don’t like that.” Neither do the voters who powered the GOP to victory last November and put Boehner in the speaker’s chair…”
$ Also: Phil Rucker, WaPo: Pressure is on House Republican Freshmen
“They ran against debt. They swore and swore again that they’d cut up the nation’s credit card.
“But now the 87 freshmen House Republicans are facing intense pressure from administration officials and even some natural allies on why they should — indeed, why they must — vote to allow the federal government to go even deeper into debt.
“Financial industry executives, business leaders and Treasury Department officials are visiting the freshmen in their offices, briefing them in small groups and even cornering them at dinner parties. It’s all part of a behind-the-scenes campaign to school congressional newcomers in the economic stakes of Washington’s next big fiscal fight: over the debt ceiling.
“The freshman class that gave Republicans the House majority will be a critical voting bloc in the looming clash over whether to raise the amount of money the government can borrow to keep it from defaulting on its loans.
“‘It is the big vote for all of us,’ said Rep. James Lankford (R-Okla.). ‘I don’t think there’s been a week that I’ve been here where we’ve not had some kind of conversation with somebody dealing with debt ceiling issues….’”
$ WSJ: The Other Medicare Cutters
“The debate over Paul Ryan’s Medicare reform ideas has largely been healthy, even amid the liberal distortions. But why has there been so little scrutiny of President Obama’s new Medicare proposal? Anyone worrying about more individual choice and responsibility in health care might be interested to learn that the alternative is turning every one of these decisions over to a 15-member central committee.
“It sounds absurd, but there the President was last week, gravely conceding Mr. Ryan’s analysis of Medicare’s balance sheet and then claiming that the solution is to give a lot more political power to an unelected board to control health costs. Democrats believe this board will play doctor and actuary and allocate health resources better than markets, so allow us to fill in some of the details of this government-planned future…”
WSJ: Progress on the Obama-Ryan Plan
“Good week! We’re getting closer to the goal! I went to GWU and denounced the Paul Ryan plan as a radical Republican plan. You should have heard the howls!
“The GOP should put me on the payroll—the tea partiers and their congressmen were rushing to support a proposal that remakes (one more time!) the Republican peace with the welfare state! The Ryan plan got 193 votes in the House by the time I finished selling it. Hoo boy, I amaze myself more than ever—and that’s saying something, since I’ve written two autobiographies to describe how amazing I am to myself!
“A radical Republican plan would replace Medicare and Social Security (which Ryan barely mentions) with personal accounts. This is what radical Republicans have wanted for decades—turning a pay-as-you-go welfare state into one based on real savings, real investment and pro-growth incentives.
“Ryan is not radical. Ryan gives us “premium support”—which, when you think about it, is a “New Democrat” idea, promoted by Bill Clinton’s Medicare commission, though poor Bill was too tangled up in Monica to do much about it. Premium support makes pay-as-you-go Medicare permanent…”
$ Buying Votes: $ to Medicare Advantage
“WASHINGTON – Millions of seniors in popular private insurance plans offered through Medicare will be getting a reprieve from some of the most controversial cuts in President Barack Obama’s health care law.
“In a policy shift critics see as political, the Health and Human Services department has decided to award quality bonuses to hundreds of Medicare Advantage plans rated merely average.
“The $6.7 billion infusion could head off service cuts that would have been a headache for Obama and Democrats in next year’s elections for the White House and Congress. More than half the roughly 11 million Medicare Advantage enrollees are in plans rated average.
“In a recent letter to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, two prominent GOP lawmakers questioned what they termed the administration’s “newfound support” for Medicare Advantage….”
Don’t Arrest the Illegals…
“An Arizona sheriff says he has been flooded with calls and emails of support from local and federal agents who back his claims that the U.S. Border Patrol has effectively ordered them to stop apprehending illegal immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexican border.
“‘Upper management has advised supervisors to have agents ‘turn back South’ (TBS) the illegal aliens (aka bodies) they detect attempting to unlawfully enter the country … at times you even hear supervisors order the agents over the radio to ‘TBS’ the aliens instead of catching them,’ one San Diego border agent wrote in an email to Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever.
“‘This only causes more problems as the aliens, as you know, don’t just go back to Mexico and give up. They keep trying, sometimes without 10 minutes in-between attempts, to cross illegally…’”
$ Aaron Klein, WND: Obama Backs Palestinian State
“JERUSALEM – The Obama administration has asked the Palestinian Authority to halt talks on a unity government with Hamas, according to a senior PA official.
“The official said the White House fears a unity government with the Islamist group would make it difficult for the U.S. and European Union to support the unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state in the United Nations.
“The information is the latest indicator Obama will not veto the controversial U.N. resolution, which would recognize a Palestinian state in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip as well as the West Bank and eastern Jerusalem, purportedly including the Temple Mount.
“Like Jerusalem, the West Bank, or Judea and Samaria, is the site of biblical, historically Jewish communities.
“According to the PA official, the Obama administration is concerned that support for a U.N. declaration of Palestinian statehood could have a negative impact on the president’s 2012 re-election bid….” (emph added, jb)
Michael Ledeen, PajamasMedia: Middle East Masochists
“You can barely see it in the popular press, but the global insurrection is going great guns, despite the fecklessness of the so-called Western world. And it’s going great guns in our enemies’ countries, not just in those of our (at least erstwhile) friends.
“In Syria, for example, the anti-Assad demonstrations are getting bigger and are explicitly calling for regime change. In Iran, there are ongoing strikes, violent anti-regime demonstrations in the oil regions in the west, adjoining Iraq (think Basra), and continued sabotage of the country’s gas pipelines.
“The destinies of the Damascus and Tehran tyrannies are closely linked, which is why the Iranians have been sending some of their top experts to Syria, to aid the Baathists in putting down the insurrection. The mullahs have delivered between 350 and 400 cameras that are hidden in traffic signals, in order to identify the activists, and more than 42 censors to shut down foreign radio and tv broadcasts. And there are many Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollahis in Damascus, along with Iranian-trained Arabs, nearly two thousand strong as of the 11th, to show the Syrian security forces how it’s done.
“In other words, it’s an attempt to replay the Iranian repression on Syrian soil.
“It’s not working very well…”
Andy McCarthy, NRO: Obama Lets Terrorists Walk
“…According to reporting at Pajamas Media by Patrick Poole, who has tracked the Muslim Brotherhood for years, the DOJ intervention came in connection with the Holy Land Foundation case, in which federal prosecutors in Dallas proved that the Brotherhood bankrolled its Palestinian branch, the terrorist organization Hamas, during the deadly intifada against Israel. The linchpin of the Brotherhood scheme was the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF), an ostensible Islamic charity through which tens of millions of dollars were funneled to jihadists overseas….
“The five indicted HLF defendants were convicted in 2008. According to Poole, the U.S. attorney in Dallas hoped to do a second round of prosecutions targeting the unindicted coconspirators. They were thwarted, however, by Obama political appointees at Main Justice. According to an unidentified Justice Department official who is one of Poole’s sources, this decision to quash indictments (including one against a top CAIR official) was made not for lack of evidence but due to political considerations: specifically, to promote “outreach” to Muslims (an Obama-administration priority) and to avoid embarrassing the government — which stood to be vilified if those with whom they had cultivated relationships were shown to have supported terrorists.
“The story has begun to attract attention on Capitol Hill. Peter King, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, has already fired off a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder…”
GM Shares … You Lose $11 Billion!
“…The government would need to sell its roughly 500 million shares for $53 dollars each in order to break even, but GM’s stock is currently hovering at a price of just under $30 per share.
“At the current price, the government would lose more than $11 billion, but the Obama administration is willing to accept the loss in order to cut its last ties to the auto manufacturer, the newspaper said, citing unnamed sources…”
Philadelphia: Condoms to Eleven-Year-Olds
“Essentially, the City Health Department and the Mayor are trying out-of-the-box (sic!) thinking as a novel approach to combating widespread teenage/underage pregnancies, with its Philadelphia condoms campaign.
While conventional practices like sex education and abstinence are necessary, kids are breaking through the barriers and are still practicing “early” and un-safe sex.
The controversial program’s website is called “Take ControlPhilly.org.” The format is somewhat whimsical and animated site that allows a user the option to have condoms mailed to them.
The idea here is that kids — and the operative word is “kids,” are allowed to have condoms mailed to them in order to avoid the stigma from being seen in person.
$ Fred Upton Investigates ObamaCare Passage
“House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton is expanding his investigation into the meetings between special interest groups and the Obama White House that set the stage for the passage of Obamacare, sending document requests to 12 industry groups and unions that played a key role in the negotiations.
“In April 18 letters to the groups, Upton asks for extensive details and documents about each organization’s interactions with the White House in regards to the health care law.
The requests come as the Obama White House has so far declined to provide its documents about the meetings.
“At issue are special deals struck between interest groups and President Obama to either garner the support of major industry sectors or soften their criticism of the health care law.
$ White House Cooked the Books
“White House officials have unveiled a taxpayers’ ‘Federal Tax Receipt’ website to goose publicity for a week of presidential speeches on the deficit, but the online receipt hides the president’s deficit spending and conceals the growing national debt.
“But interest payments actually cost the nation $414 billion in 2010, according to the Treasury Department. That’s roughly $1,380 per person, or $4,140 for a family of three, or 218 times more than the White House website shows. (emph added jb)
USA Today: Obama Challenged by Reporter from Texas
“President Obama has troubles with voters in Texas, and, apparently, with interviewers from the Lone Star State as well.
“‘Let me finish my answers the next time we do an interview, all right?’ Obama told reporter Brad Watson after an interview with WFAA-TV of Dallas, one of four interviews with local television stations at the White House on Monday….
“…At one point, Watson asked the president: ‘Why do you think you’re so unpopular in Texas?’
“…Obama also bristled at claims that his administration skipped Houston in the award of space shuttle orbiters and favored states that could help his re-election.
“That’s wrong,” the president stated. “That had nothing to do with it; the White House had nothing to do with it.”
“When Watson persisted, Obama said, ‘I just said that was wrong,’ and, later, ‘I just said that wasn’t true’….”
Also – from the Politico:
“…The problem: The reporter’s questions weren’t particularly difficult, but they were clearly not what Obama was expecting. The result was a viral video that depicted Obama as angry when faced with tough questioning. And it unveiled some of the degree to which the White House would like to control its message.
“Pfeiffer was asked by Time reporter Michael Scherer, ‘So will WFAA’s Brad Watson get another interview one day?’
“Instead of quickly taking the high road, Pfeiffer suggested that Watson may truly be out in the cold after irritating the president. And he did it by revealing yet another trick of Washington communications: playing one news outlet against its rival….”
$ Patriots of SE Michigan: EITC Robbery by Illegals
“Illegal aliens are among the chief beneficiaries of the $62.5 billion income transfer scheme known as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
“In the report Rubenstein reveals that the IRS knowingly allows illegal aliens to defraud taxpayers by getting cash EITC payments of up to $5,750 for a family of five. The IRS also refuses to implement recommendations from its own Inspector General’s office that could stop massive EITC fraud that costs taxpayers as much as $13 billion a year.
“Rubenstein also shows how Congress has changed a federal kick-back program intended to supplement the earnings of low income workers, into one that subsidizes parenthood and disproportionately benefits immigrant families as opposed to those of native workers.”

John Walker’s Thoughts
Michael Savage mentioned this letter…it’s worth your attention.
“These so-called ‘progressives’ or ‘liberals’ are not advocates of progress or liberty: they are enemies of them, and the sooner champions of liberty acknowledge what they are, the better our slim chances for defeating them will be. Libertarians and conservatives are inclined toward civil discourse and respect for the rule of law. They must come to terms with the fact that their enemies—not opponents—are implacable, bent on winning whatever the cost may be, willing to use any means whatsoever to prevail and, once triumphant, to deprive their opposition of the means to reverse or even impede the implementation of their agenda….”
