“I think a bunch of bureaucrats can abuse the power of money just as ruthlessly as a bunch of Wall Street bankers, and far less competently.” Raymond Chandler, 2/27/1951.
Peter Bergen: Why AfgPak Matters
On Bill Bennett’s radio program, Peter Bergen remarked, “Armed groups who think they are winning are not going to do deals with you.”
“Nearly every major jihadist plot against Western targets in the last two decades somehow leads back to Afghanistan or Pakistan. The first World Trade Center bombing in 1993 was masterminded by Ramzi Yousef, who had trained in an Al Qaeda camp on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. Ahmed Ressam, who plotted to blow up LAX airport in 1999, was trained in Al Qaeda’s Khaldan camp in Afghanistan. Key operatives in the suicide attacks on two U.S. embassies in Africa in 1998 and the USS Cole in 2000 trained in Afghanistan; so did all 19 September 11 hijackers. The leader of the 2002 Bali attack that killed more than 200 people, mostly Western tourists, was a veteran of the Afghan camps. The ringleader of the 2005 London subway bombing was trained by Al Qaeda in Pakistan. The British plotters who planned to blow up passenger planes leaving Heathrow in the summer of 2006 were taking direction from Pakistan; a July 25, 2006, e-mail from their Al Qaeda handler in that country, Rashid Rauf, urged them to ‘get a move on.’ If that attack had succeeded, as many as 1,500 would have died. The three men who, in 2007, were planning to attack Ramstein Air Base, a U.S. facility in Germany, had trained in Pakistan’s tribal regions.” http://www.tnr.com/article/world/the-front

Byron York: BO Makes Us More “Republican”
“As promised, Barack Obama is bringing change to America. He’s making it more Republican.
“It’s not that more people are actually becoming Republicans or calling themselves Republicans — the number of voters who formally identify with the party is at its lowest point in years. But we appear to be in the early stages of a shift in which political independents, people who not too long ago were sick of Republicans, are now leaning toward GOP positions on some key issues.”
Doug Hoffman, NY State Conservative, in Front…
Palin, Pawlenty, Steve Forbes, Santorum, Thompson, and even Bill Bennett back him against the endorsed Republican, a supporter of ACORN, Card Check, abortion, and higher taxes.
“Silvan Johnson adores Sarah Palin, belongs to a conservative discussion group and fumes at President Obama’s spending policies. But when it comes to picking a new congressional representative for her upstate New York district, she is in no mood to help the Republican Party.”

Cap & Trade: Stop It in Committee?
eMailed From Tim Phillips, Americans for Prosperity:
“Senate Environment and Public Works Committee gets first crack at cap-and-trade. CLICK here to take a look at the committee. If your senator is on the committee, call or email them today by clicking here. Tell them to vote NO in committee. For more details on this terrible legislation, visit our website at americansforprosperity.org.”
Thomas Sowell: “Dismantling America”
“Just one year ago, would you have believed that an unelected government official, not even a cabinet member confirmed by the Senate but simply one of the many “czars” appointed by the president, could arbitrarily cut the pay of executives in private businesses by 50 percent or 90 percent?
“Did you think that another “czar” would be talking about restricting talk radio? That there would be plans afloat to subsidize newspapers — that is, to create a situation where some newspapers’ survival would depend on the government’s liking what they publish?
“Did you imagine that anyone would even be talking about having a panel of so-called “experts” deciding who could and could not get life-saving medical treatments?
“Scary as that is from a medical standpoint, it is also chilling from the standpoint of freedom.”

D.C. Sniper: Lethal Injection November 10
Steve Sommers recalled that John Allen Muhammad slept while he was trapped by a pair of truckers who boxed him in until police arrived. Sommer’s dad, also a career talk host, “pumped” the story for several weeks before the 2002 capture: the truckers used his information to spot Muhammad’s van alongside the highway near Frederick, Maryland. Health Care: 10th Amendment Grows
“Not My Constituent”
Email screens ask for your zip code and refuse your note if you are not from the correct district. In a similar manner, an ACORN member of the PA legislature should be a cancer removed by her constituents. Once elected, however, that legislator takes on committee roles that have an impact on the entire state. In this instance, a Philadelphia representative blocks action concerning the 10th Amendment and, therefore, fouls up lives not only in Philadelphia but also in Lancaster, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, and all points in between.
Charges of nonfeasance and malfeasance are justified and the responsibility of local authorities in Lancaster or even Spring City. Failure to pursue this course encourages more ACORN mischief such as voter fraud and poll harassment.
Long term solution?
Love in Sioux Falls
He, a Canadian trucker, spotted her, a South Dakota gal, at the bar where he stopped for a sandwich. He also asked her boyfriend for directions but she answered his questions and three days later married him. That was 49 years ago: she’s been his co-driver for the past ten. They are still happy. Not sure about the boyfriend.

November 11th, 7 P.M., West Chester Tea Party
November 14, 2009 Taxpayers March on Harrisburg
“The recent Pennsylvania budget fiasco illustrates that Pennsylvania taxpayers deserve better stewards of public monies. Years of unfulfilled promises and irresponsible spending have brought Pennsylvania to its current fiscally precarious condition. In times of economic hardship, everyday citizens have shown the ability to adapt by tightening their belts and making responsible choices. We expect our lawmakers in the state house to do the same. Hundreds of citizens will be at the capitol to make their voices heard.”
Meet at City Island at 1:00 P.M. Then march from the parking lot to the Capital and rally at 2:30–5 P.M. Pennsylvania Tea Parties. Keynote speaker, Dick Armey, Chairman, Freedom Works and other speakers will be featured upon confirmation.
